how to remove labels from jars:
Put your kettle on and bring the water to a boil
Pour boiling water into the jars and then wait around 5 to 10 minutes
The labels should easily peel off at this point leaving behind lots of glue residue
Create a paste of baking soda and dish soap. It’s not an exact measurement, but 1-2 tablespoons of baking soda plus a few pumps of dish soap should work.
Stir the baking soda and dish soap together until a smooth paste is formed. Continue adding more dish soap or baking soda until you get a good consistency.
Apply the mixture to the glass jars. It doesn’t have to be an even coat, but do the best you can to spread it around the full jar.
Let the jars sit for a few hours or overnight.
Wash the paste off and VOILA! Clean jars

Thank you for posting this. My wife had me clean 12 small glass jars. I tried the alcohol method and there was still residue on the jars leaving a haze where the labels were. I spent an hour trying before I found your video. Literally 20 mins later I was done with perfectly clear jars. Mahalo from Hawaii.

Yes this works. And it also works on stainless steel and plastic. Finally got off all the sticky residue from the plastic handle of a coffee plunger and an extremely old sticker reaidue from a stainless steel pan. Thank you so much!

I have over 20 jars, all different kinds that I've been trying to remove gunk from. I first used goo gone which got most of it off, but there were still spots of adhesive or just a thin sticky film all over. I tried 100% acetone and rubbing alcohol and it didn't work. I had tried something like this in the past and I had remembered it taking forever. But after scrubbing and washing my jars three times over I decided to try this. I used more baking soda and sprayed the jars with vinegar after wards, scrubbed with a green and yellow sponge and then washed them with soap. I finally got the gunk off! I'm glad I gave this another chance. Thank you!

Worked better than any other tip I've tried but I had to use a Brillo (soap/wire wool pad). Tried using just the Brillo on the 2nd jar and that worked but needed more elbow grease. These bottles had plastic labels on and I think the glue is harder to remove than the glue used on paper labels. Thanks for the tip.

Thanks a lot. And consider those coconut fibre dish scrubbers, because those sponges with the green plastic shite on top go straight to landfill. Surprised how the coconut fibre variants aren't mainstream yet...

WORKS!!! I tried rubbing alcohol. Nope. Tried acetone nail polish remover. Nope. Then tried THIS!!! easy. 10 minutes. Removes every single sticky particle. Almost no scrubbing. Glue slides off!! Took a lifetime of 68 yrs to find this. Lol. T U X SO MUCH!!

BRILLIANT! It worked. I actually rubbed again after about 10 mins and could fee the glue loosen wiped with a paper towel and then washed and amazingly it all came off. Thank you, i've been struggling for years with these types of labels.

I'm trying this out. I hope it works but I'm skeptical because her goo was thicker than mine. I used Wesson oil. This is trying to get a real sticky glue off of a fire screen for a fire place. Later that day: Wow. It worked great. I left it on 30 minutes then wiped it off with sponge and liquid detergent, Dawn. Came off well. There were tiny specs left over and I just used a doobie to get it off. Thanks so much.

I just tried this method for removing a stubborn glue mark from a giant jar I saved and it works AMAZING! I used a teaspoon of olive oil and let it sit for 20 minutes, I was able to wipe it off very easily and there's no sticky residue left behind. Thank you so much, I couldn't believe how well this worked!!

This is awesomely helpful! Would this work to remove adhesive from fabric? There is melted on sticker glue on a cotton duvet from being thrown in the dryer, and the glue is in the weave 😣 Any suggestions?

I tried this. I had to use extra baking soda because I guess I was using organic cooking oil maybe that had something to do with it. Left it on for actually over 30 minutes because maybe my label was stubborn on the bottle but took some extra scrubbing most of it came off I'll have to try later on repeat the steps and see what happens.

You will likely scratch plastic with soda powder or any other abrasives. Use a gentle piece of sacrificial cloth, large enough to contain the glue and a compatible solvent: alcohol, acetone on PE and PP or oil on unknown plastics.

Wrap it with TPaper and spray WD 40 . Let it soak.

It works. Oil mixes with the water insoluble glues and also other solid fats. A mix of undissolved soda (as a fine grit disposable sponge) and dish soap might be enough to scrape off smaller amounts of glue without dealing with fats. A durable plastic label can be pulled off leaving less glue on the glass than if it was melted with hot water. I have glues that smell like an essence of conifer trees, probably part of organic marketing along with paper immitation label.
