Was a decorator for 30 years and used to remove radiators myself . I did discover the many problems that can occur with leaking connections or air locks etc. In the end I made the customer call in a heating engineer to do it. Also the contamination in old radiators will permanently stain any carpet it comes into contact with.

Thanks mate appreciate this i took my radiator off to prep it for painting and the pressure on my boiler went below 0.4 and turned it off and when I turned the taps on the boiler to add the pressure back water was coming out the radiator valves I turned the valves off but the water still came out so after seeing this video I now know I need to get a radiator blank cap thanks again this helped

once its disconnected, you can gently place on the floor, lie it on the face and turn it upside down. Carry it with the valves at the top (make sure the top valves are closed before you lift it off the wall)

Hiya! What do you do if your pipes are through the wall with little play for moving radiator away from valve

My dad showed me a trick, of turning the rad upside down whilst still connected.slightly. Where the water moves to the bottom of the rad. Then remove completely. Tip the water out, then outside. Flush with hose until clear... ✌️🇬🇧

I'm taking the hall radiator off the wall to decorate. I turned it off at the valves on either side, thinking I'd isolated it. Then loosened the nuts and drained it. I then went to top up the pressure in the boiler but water came out the pipes on either side of the radiator. Why did that happen given I'd turned it off/isolated it?

Hi Mark just watching your videos very good , I have a system with water tank in loft and hot water tank in airing cupboard , my question is if I was to change a tap that's leaking what precautions do I need to take ? And next year a radiator needs to be taken off and moved , last time my builder did this he damaged the boiler pump , don't want to drain system on both questions any help please appreciated , would I need to bung.
