Not too challenging, but if you've never seen it done before, it's nice to see someone else show you how. Disconnect the power and wear gloves, simple tools required.

Thanks, this is helpful. I'm a single mom, and I haven't had a dryer that heats in almost 3 months. I've ordered a new element and I'm tired of waiting for someone to come help me so I'm going to do it myself. Thanks!

This is a helpful video. Thanks! A suggestion: The failure point could be the heating element or that high limit thermostat attached to the side of it that you pulled off. Better to pull off the wire connections to them before you even take them out, and check across their terminals with an ohmmeter to see if they read "infinite" (open circuit) before buying parts and replacing these. An "infinite" reading on the ohmmeter means the part is bad. Check the thermostat and the element. It could be either one. There are also two other parts, a cycling thermostat and a thermal fuse, more to the left on the air outlet pipe at the bottom center of the dryer on that model. If the element and high limit therm are okay, check those. Any of these 4 parts can cause no heat in this dryer.

Thank you! Very helpful. I did have a few comments: I wouldn't yank the wires like that, but pull by the metal. If you yank off the wire you have a bigger project. Also, I would replace the thermostat at the same time, in fact the part I ordered came with it. No need to be doing this again in a few months.

Excellent. Maybe not for the mechanically challenged, but fast forwarding through the basic spots made it much easier to grasp. There are other videos on KZfaq that are 25 minutes long that are more detailed for those that need it.

2004 is when we purchased our matching Sears Kenmore 70 Series washer and dryer. 2022 is NOW when I replaced the thermal fuse (that wasn't the problem), so I'm moving on to the next inexpensive part (heating element). We LOVE our Kenmore!

For a non mechanical person, this was very helpful. Although it would have been nicer to see you disconnet and reconnect more of what you fast forwarded thru. Not the screws but the other parts. Thank you for the demonstration

Thank you!!! Our dryer is running but not heating. I have taken every step before ordering the element and replacing. Is there is a chance it could be anything other than this element before I order it. I saw it would also be the thermal fuse but have seen the dryer won’t run at all if this is blown. Is that true? Our dryer runs but gets no heat. Thank you!

Thanks so much for this great video! After watching this video, my husband attempted to check out the heating element in our dryer which was not producing heat and discovered a break in the element. We ordered the part off a popular on line service and for $50.00 he fixed it himself. Checked out prices locally and they wanted almost $100.00 for the thermostat and element, not counting what it would have costed for them to change it. We noticed when there was no heat, the timer did not want to drop in time and just stayed at the time we set it on.Just wanted to know if anybody knows if the element burns out, does it affect the timer on this Kenmore model? Thanks again you saved me $50.00 plus.

I can guarantee my dryer now needs this, it hasn’t heated for 6 months now, and I can’t take the laundromat stuff anymore lol. Does it make a difference if it’s a gas dryer? And so typical places like lowes/Home Depot carry heating elements? I’m gonna attempt this with your guidance, and I’m far from a handyman! Lol

Why would this guy store vintage vinyl records next to a heat source?? Secondly, he should have used a shop vac to clean the lint from inside before re-install the rear cover. That much combustible material near a heat source...SMH. People are in such a hurry to make a video they don't plan ahead.
