How To Remove & Replace Knobs on Profitec Pro 500 and 700

In this Tech Tip from wholelattelove.com you will learn how to remove and replace the steam and hot water knobs on a Profitec Pro 500 or 700 semi-automatic espresso machine. You will need a small flat head screwdriver and clear tape to complete the procedure.

Cool video. That c-clip is actually being used on lots of rc car build. I lost quite some of those until I got a c-clip tool for it.

Is it possible to switch the knob for the joystick control on the 500? I like the knob for the hot water but would prefer the steam side to just be an on/off

Both the steam and hot water knobs on my Pro 700 squeak horribly when I use them. Would you just suggest a food grade grease on the axle after removing the knob? Or does it not have to be food grade since it's on the outside?

Hi Patrick, I would stick with a food grade lubricant. Vaseline should work.

Does this work for the Profitec Pro 400? I would love to use wooden steam knobs instead of the stock steam knobs.

Hi YA, It should be possible to make your own but there are no wood knob accessory options available for purchase for the Pro 400.

What size are the little clips that hold the knobs on?

Hi i2, The external diameter of the clips is 8.82mm. Minimum internal clearance is 3.61mm.

Can one install a lever instead of a knob?

+JZA80IV It's not something we have done. You would have to replace the entire valve.

How about different knobs from other machines? Those knobs are pretty bland
