Here's a quick video on how to remove the automatic shift cable or gear selector attached to the transmission on a 1994 to 1997 Honda Accord.

Have a cable hanging out of the trans that needs to be removed as we were running low on time on engine/trans extraction. Now I know how to remove the stub prior to parting out the trans - thank you.

What happen if the gear cable is wornout? My honda fit early morning i put in drive position not moving forward but slip backward when i released the brake pedal i did not step the gas pedal and i still step the brake pedal 2x 3x and go forward . What is the issue of this?

For reconnecting it, am I going to want to put the shifter in neutral and put the cable back with the hole facing down? I replaced my transmission and neutral and drive are not lining up with my shifter. Thanks.

Alyssa Baker yes. Put the gear back in neutral, turn that knob with the bolt hole facing straight down.

I replaced my trans and all I needed was the cable. It would shift itself into a different gear while in drive. And just whine
