In this video we show how to remove the starter in a 2014 Silverado with the 5.3L L83 direct injected motor.

I used this to change out my starter, today. Thanks mechanic guy! Yes, he is right. You don't have to take the wheel off. Just turn it to the driver side. Yes, you DO have to take off the finder liner.

Thanks! Just a heads up that the 4.3L V6 is a ridiculously tight squeeze. Save yourself the trouble and take off the tire, side covering, loosen the sway bar, unclip transmission coolant lines, remove skid plate and bend any heat shields out of the way. I had a heck of a time rotating the starter int position. Whole thing Took about 5hrs. I would not have wanted to do this in a parking lot somewhere, it took ALOT of finesse and cursing.

Im putting together a 2014 and currently putting the starter back. I cant tell which cable is which. I would assume the negative battery cable goes to the engine block and other to the starter. but it doesnt seem to go that way. And ive been wrong before. Was that cable from the starter to the negative on the battery or was it the other cable.

I replaced the starter 2014 GMC 1500. But tonight I think I lost the smaller wire to the starter. The ones with the red clip tab. How do u fix it and where does the lead come from?

I know this video has nothing to do with this, but I've always been curious on the white front grille and bumper of your truck. Is it wrapped, plastidipped, painted? I have a 2014 summit white double cab that I've always dreamt of having all white, just not sure which route to take

I picked up a primered bumper after an accident (video on the channel from long ago lol) and got it painted. The light bezels and grille are all painted chrome. I clear wrapped them because I was afraid of chipping since paint on plastic chrome doesn't always stick well. I am not super happy with the clear wrap (which I did myself) but I think with how high up the truck is, the clear wrap was unnecessary.

another Good Video Cliff you would Think by Year 2014 GM would have just installed Start /Stop ALTERNATOR /STARTER to the Engine by just using a Serpentine Belt to Crank the Engine over or to ADD Adition Engine Torque to the Motor Like rne RAM 1500 with the HEMI Engine !!!

Does this fix the cold start grind? Anytime it's below freezing, the Bendix stays out a split second after the engine fires and it grinds on the flex plate. After the engine warm though it won't do it.

I haven't had that issue but it also doesn't get below freezing a ton in south jersey.

I would push it on tight and use some zip ties to hold it securely. I have a few connections like that on my truck lol

Zach Krauter I did the same. It will come off eventually. Taking off that harness took me the longest. Everything else, smooth!!

I wish GM came with Button to Select AFM #1: ECO ( 4 cyl Biased ) #2 : Mixed Combined #3: V8 : AFM Locked out #4 : Stop Start

Broke the red tab with little pressure, now it seems like I cannot get the connector off , I don’t wanna break the connecter. Any ideas what should I do? Like it’s on there super tight .

My bolt it stuck in the starter and will not go into the block or come out and the bolt is holding the starter in place what do I need to do to get it out

One of the bolts was stuck for me too. I had to impact it out but without seeing your exact situation it is difficult to advise.

It doesn't do anything for the longevity of the lifters unfortunately. I've talked to guys that tuned it out as soon as getting their trucks and the lifters still failed

My 2014 Silverado won't restart after driving 30 or 40 miles. It shows no codes on the diagnostic. Any ideas? I need help.

Hey Dustin, I'm no mechanic but I'll throw out some ideas for you. Battery terminal corrosion, bad ignition switch, clogged fuel filter, anti theft mode engaged (possible switches broken), bad harmonica connector under the dash, new ignition switch installed with the possibility of wires pulled against metal to install the new switch. Were there any mods done to the truck? Check there first. Depending where you live possible corroded grounds. I figure some of these may give codes but not sure. Hope this helps

Cliff you Lucky this is not a L84 Engine , Cause you would have to install 8 Lifter Plugs instead of just 4 Lifter plugs

There are 8 with mine as well. 8 collapsible lifters with the L83 (if that is what you are referring to)

@@TheSundaeDrive Yes you are Correct 8 Colapsable - i ment on the 2020 Engine L84 now has all 16 Colapsable Lifters !!! with DELETED Vacuum Pump instead of just 8 on the L83 Engine

Ahh yeah! So many more opportunities to fail 🤦‍♂️ lol. I wish you could choose afm delete as a factory option. I'm still replacing all 16 because mine have 108K on them
