This is how you remove the stock cat-back exhaust on an 08 Porsche Cayman s. Same process applies to the base 987 Cayman, and 987 Boxsters.

Thanks the video fella, love the flat 6 sound, looking forward to hearing when you've done the headers. I put a Remus cat back on my 10 year old 987 boxster and it transformed the car.... yours will sound even better I'm sure. Cheers

Easy to follow instructions delivered calmly. Took me about an hour on a 2009 Cayman S w/44k miles. Fortunately no stud issues. The top bolt on the drivers side is a pain. Installing Carnewal GT exhaust. Thank you for the great instructions!

Was about to do the same this week. How has that exhaust been? I live next to cantrell motorsports in WA so was gonna take off the exhaust and take it there to get it done.

Thank you for a straight up, calm, informative video!!... This old guy might try this myself, but the getting squashed by the exhaust part might just get me stuck under my Cayman S until someone sends out a search party for me!! I'm not too flexible these days... ;-) Cheers!!

Congratulation, I am happy for you. You deserve it!! on yeah, a recommendation, just to be on the safe side, I would place safety blocks underneath those jacks just in case they fail. Just looking out for you! Especially, if you are working underneath a car.
@SummitLife6 жыл бұрын
Bryn Williams always a good idea! Quickjacks have a built in lock! So when I am under the car it's actually not on the hydrolic pressure

Hi there, i love your videos, hoping to see the Soul Headers installation as well, any discounts on all exhaust system ? i am planning to get it the end of the month.

Gonna slow play us and tease us as we await the sound of SOUL kicking out the back end of your vehicle?! Great vid, you've got me busting to find a way to get one of these suckers on my ride ASAP! Nice tutorial - love that you're rockin' the QuickJack too - was yours all the way up in the vid - seemed low?

Apparently busting one or more of those flange nuts is really common. It happened to the shop that installed my Carnewal GT exhaust 5yrs ago. It just happened to me when I tried to install a Borla system even though I sprayed a copious amount of WD40 on those nuts and let them soak for an hour. How did you remove the one that you busted?
@100thomasmagnum6 жыл бұрын
Nice video. You should do one on the install too.

Is removing the wheels really necessary to get to all the bolts?
@stephenauty24024 жыл бұрын
Those nuts came off yours very easily and they were in amazing condition. mine were so rusted they were about 12.5mm so no sockets to fit . I had to cut them off with a Dremmel which took about 6 hours, my car has 20k miles so nothing really but I do live in the UK. They are aren't bolts by the way, they're studs that are pressed into the exhaust flange, once again mine took about 10mins to knock each one out with lots of heat and oil, the whole job was a real PITA.

make sure do do a cold start, and rev up the car some when the new exhaust is in :)

You should get yourself a nice air ratchet Clayton. A lot easier to hold IMO and better for tight space.

SAL, Have you ever built the courage to tackle a brake replacement? Im in need on my Cayman S and need some of your video guidance!!
@SummitLife6 жыл бұрын
Trey Cordle that would be a piece of cake actually! My pads are almost in need of replacing. When they are I'll most likely do a break upgrade and film a video! Probably in a couple months

Sweet, your videos have been really helpful and have saved me lots of $$. Look forward to it!

Not to steal from Clayton's up coming video but, if you're looking for the tips now, Car Fanatic has videos on this subject for his 911 and the process would be more or less the same as for your Cayman. Good luck!

Iam looking forward to buy a Cayman next year, preferably the 295ps version. I am not really a mechanic but I have friends who love to work on cars. Is it much harder to work on a cayman on your own then a regular hatchback like a fiesta or something? Does parts break often? This car is an achieveable dream for me but I am a little scared since its a porsche. Love this channel, looking forward to more videos :)

I own a Cayman S, only for a few months, but they are very reliable cars. If you can, go for the 2009 987.2, but if not, the 987.1 (06-08) Cayman S's are great. If you're going to track it, then some things need to be done like water pump, maybe shift cable upgrade, oil sump mod, but if its just a road car, I wouldn't worry too much. I've done some basic maintenance so far like changed the belt, new plugs and coils, new engine air filter, and all of it is easy. Don't be intimidated, they are the best bang for your buck you can get in a sports car. In my opinion, they are much better than a BMW or Mercedes. You pay a little more, but that little more goes a long way. Engineered so well. Just make sure you get a pre-purchase inspection before you buy!! Looking for a computer readout on engine over revs, particularly in a manual transmission.
@SummitLife6 жыл бұрын
Porsches are actually very easy to work on. Not much harder than any other car really. Mine in the Video has 108k miles and is showing no signs of it! Runs great, sounds amazing, and I doubt it will break down any time soon! You can pick up high mileage Cayman S's so cheap right now. Great buy
@Medienmechaniker6 жыл бұрын
That is good to hear, I will have so save up one more year to have almost all money for it. Currently costing around 25k Eur here in Germany. I am a bit scared about that IMS problem, do you know anything about that? I would daily drive the cayman and it wouldnt see the track once.
@themza9126 жыл бұрын
IMS is not a concern on the 987.2 at all (intermediate shaft was eliminated) and a veeerry small chance on the 987.1. Once the car is over 50k that is typically indicative of no problems will occur

On a scale of 1-10 how hard is wrapping a cayman? Thanks for this video.
@SummitLife6 жыл бұрын
frostshock13 caymans are really easy to wrap. The first car I wrapped, and learned on, was an 07 Cayman
@frostshock136 жыл бұрын
That's what I would be doing, I want to paint it, but the allure of wrapping it seems nice, plus there is no one that wraps anywhere near where I live, maybe I will give it a shot after all.
