Very helpful video, the dealer wanted nearly a thousand dollars to replace it, but I did it for about 80!
@albertcorrales142 жыл бұрын
Same here the mechanic said the part was gonna be about 900 dollars and the labor was probably going to be another 3-400, did it myself for about $145
@Liberty1877 Жыл бұрын
@@albertcorrales14 You guys are good, I watched the video and I had a panic/anxiety attack. This is like brain surgery to me. But looking at how long it took to do the video, the labour shouldn't be more than 30 minutes plus idle relearn (about 20 minutes). Total labour should be about 1 hour. However, the mechanic may be charging extra labour to drain the coolant and fill.

What is the top, forward facing hose for? Just picked up an 06 and there is no hose attached to the nipple.

Hi, Great video. Do you need to temporary clamp/clip the coolant hose or the coolant hose that you removed in the video is always empty?
@mrbfpv94666 жыл бұрын
You will definitely want to put the clip back on. This vehicle was completely drained of fluid. My rule of thumb is "If there is a clamp placed from the factory, name sure you put it back on." There are very likely redundancies from the factory, but since I don't know exactly which ones are necessary or not, just keep them on, that will prevent possible leakage issues in the future.

I saw this done in another vid by a guy who had coolant in his and he accidentally spilled coolant removing the line, so definitely clamp them off with pliers/vice grips if you're doing this on a undrained car
@mrbfpv94666 жыл бұрын
I completely misunderstood the question. @kwirk, thank you for answering it.

Whats the size of the throttle body intake?
@StephanieGlenewinkel5 жыл бұрын
I was told by the dealership that this is an electronic throttle body (I have a 2004 Mazda 3 hatchback 2.3), they said, I'd need to have it flashed in order for it to work properly. Does disconnecting the battery program the new throttle body to the computer? I feel like this is a stupid question, but I also don't want to spend 1k if I don't need to. Thanks!

I have seen some issues regarding the throttle position sensor. The sensor should be able to "learn" what correct position is. Try these steps that someone with the same model did and it worked. Good luck. - unplugged battery and hit brake couple times to discharge car. Waited 10 mins. - connected battery, started car and let sit in park for about 20 mins. - put in 'D' and sat for 5-10mins. - went for drive with some easy and hard driving

How do you release the tps plug?
@mrbfpv94665 жыл бұрын
You have to pull the red tab out. that will unlock the plastic release tab. Then you can press it down and then wiggle the plug to while applying pulling pressure. depending on how stuck it is, you may have to apply more force.
@bhadz1005 жыл бұрын
Mr B FPV thanks, ive located the red tab.
@liezelg42254 жыл бұрын
Do you pull it out all the way

Hey guys! For the people that have done this on their rig, did you have to drain the coolant out of the vehicle. If not what did you have to do in order not to spray coolant everywhere?
@micah11212 жыл бұрын
You can drain the coolant. But realistically we all probably don’t want to. You can get pinch pliers to put on the hose that has coolant before taking it off.
@anonymousche85522 жыл бұрын
@@micah1121 thank you.. I pinched them off with vise grips and worked out great! It's all done hopefully I did it right 🤣🤞
@Liberty1877 Жыл бұрын
@@anonymousche8552 and how's the damage to the hose as a result of the pinching?
@anonymousche8552 Жыл бұрын
@@Liberty1877 there's no damage to it. Car is still running great after a year of me replacing the throttle body
@dashld5 жыл бұрын
So should we keep the same throttle bottle or buy a new one with a new ring??
@mrbfpv94665 жыл бұрын
All you should need is the ring. If there is a problem with the throttle body you would replace it. Otherwise you would just replace the ring.

How do you reprogram the throttle body
@micah11212 жыл бұрын
Reset the ecu. Or typically people unplug the battery for a couple minutes and then reconnect. let the car run for 10mins then turn on the ac to full blast. Let it run for 10mins, turn on the headlights, let it run for 10 minutes. Then your good to go. This process allows the throttle body and maf to relearn the airflow coming in to be properly calculated by ecu without any load, and then as you add more load.

Do you need to disconnect the battery?
@mrbfpv94665 жыл бұрын
You dont need to. But I recommend that anytime you are disconnecting sensor wiring to just do anyway. It wont hurt

Theres another video where a person removes it without disconnecting batt and it causes major issues with the computer

@@down4thecause Did it without disconnecting the battery. Made sure the ignition was off, key out of ignition lock. No problems at all, no issues, no DCT faults. Just a perfect running engine without auto stop at traffic lights :)
