How to Rent a Motorcycle in India (+ Essential Tips for Renting)

5 жыл бұрынI'll show you exactly how to rent a motorcycle in India by taking you with me to rent a bike from a company in Kashmir! I'll cover the entire bike rental process and give you a bunch of tips I've learnt when renting a bike in India.
Renting a bike in India is, without a doubt, the most adventurous way to enjoy India. I always feel so free on a motorcycle cruising the wild Indian motorways with mountains, desert, farms, or forest on either side. A motorcycle road trip is a must-do experience in India.
A few of the most essential tips for renting a bike in India are:
1. Book online and in advance to save money.
2. Have the right documents! Documents needed: passport, deposit (5-10K Rs.) and drivers license. You need an international drivers license if your country does not have an agreement with India to use your license there.
3. Repairs are cheap in India, don't worry if you damage a rental.
4. Take a Royal Enfield Himalayan, not a Bullet/Classic 350/500.
5. Papers you need from rental company: pollution certificate, ownership papers, insurance proof.
6. Some Indian states require you have an inner line permit to travel there, check before going.
7. You don't really need to carry spares, there are plenty of helpful people on the main tourist rides.
8. TEST RIDE THE BIKE! Note down all defects and tell the rental company before leaving with the bike.

We hired a couple of Himalayan’s for a month. We paid a premium price but they were brand new. Which meant that we had to do the first service on the road, but it was worth it. Had absolutely no problems at all. Most amazing trip!

WOW, Thank you for all the advice! Liked and subscribed. I am thinking of buying a RE Classic or Himalayan in India and doing a 2/3-year road trip around India and SE Asia. Are these bikes reliable enough to do that kind and length of travelling? How SAFE is bike travelling in India - leaving the bike in the street while shopping or sleeping, etc.? Hi. I bought a 220 Bajaj Avenger in Karol Bagh, for RS. 2000. I rode it to Leh, via Rishikesh, Shimla, Manikaran, kullu, Manali, Rhotangla etc, and then back to Delhi via Chandigar. I fell off quite a lot on the Leh_ Manali high way , It was monsoon season, and pretty muddy up there I sold it for RS.900 on my return to Delhi , but to be fair, it was falling apart.

In Almora, uttarakhand there are many foreigners from Germany , England , newzealand etc..live in village for 5-10 yrs..not jst hindi they sing local songs in local language too..... they will build their house in any random person's land and after living there for 5-10 yrs they leave that place and that home is given to land owner who gave land for free for those many years... Location is of hills of uttarakhand..ALMORA . remember that .I am native to that city but currently living in Delhi.... Meeting those types of foreigners who will be a great experience for u...... I was too surprised for first time when I saw.. and German white guy speaking the way in our village in Hindi..then my parent told me that they love to live here..and they live here for many yrs then they leave....
