Thanks that’s the first time I ever worked with plastic like that

Next time cut a beer can and shape or line the inside with it after roughing up the aluminum with sandpaper so the plastic sticks to it or the beer can and aluminium or stainless screen to the outside. The problem with a torch is the black carbon will cause poker chipping in the plastic layers. Pretty good job with a torch though.

I hope I don’t have to do it again 😂 that’s a great idea though and I appreciate the tip.

Throw some keel guard tape over top of it or gorilla tape, that should smooth it out even more and add that one more layer of protection between the patch and elements.

You definitely have a side job opportunity there Ryan. Find out how much businesses charge, and pick your price cheaper than there's. I wonder if flex seal would help going over top of that patch. You did a beautiful job brother, definitely gave me some ideas for myself. Man I'd love to fish with you and shoot the shit. Good job brother.

NEVER EVER USE A TORCH ON A KAYAK. Use a heat gun! The problem with your repair is you're not heating both plastics surface/filler. I hope this worked for you but I would have melted wire mesh over the hole from the inside (If accessible) I use a flat head wood burning tool. Then the plastic has something to stick to. I prefer playschool and little tikes furniture since it's made of the same plastic used to make kayaks.
