Didn’t even have to remove panel. Couldn’t even see motor. I just found rough idea where it was, wacked the panel a few times, and it worked! Thank you!

It is almost a month when my window on driver side stop working and it really gives me problem whenever I enter pay parking. Just did it today on my 2005 BMW X3. Surprised it works. Thank for your tip and I saved a lot.

Thanks, it helped me fix my girls Jeep Compass motor by doing this. Her window was stuck down. Saved me the hassle of taking it out and replacing it.

This is the old "get under there and tap the starter when the car won't start" trick 😂 just gotta make sure you don't leave the house without your hammer which can double as a weapon nowadays 😂

Even the connector back of controls can be loose disconnect it and connect it again should be sweet if not then you go to the motor i didn’t go as far as stripping my door

Honestly can’t say how thankful I am. Window was stuck down for a whole day and was stressing about it. After watching a ton of videos online with no avail, yours was the last video I stumbled upon. Tried this method, and even just used a wrench to lightly tap on it, and BAM it worked. Thank you 🙏🏻

Some cars even have a hole to insert a screwdriver and it hits the dead center of the motor and you can tap with a hammer, some cars dont require taking it all the way apart like this

I changed out the switch because they’re cheap, didn’t help. Saw this vid and slammed the door a couple times and it worked. You just need to let the thing know who’s the boss.

I need your advice please Brother 🙏🏼🙏🏼😞😞😞 So unknowingly I've only gone and ordered a US Market Dorman 741-736 window regulator which is for a USDM Civic's (Passenger side) so have just discovered that the regulators motor electrical plug is a 2 pin whereas on my UKDM Civic (Driver side) it's a 4 pin plug. So basically regulator and motor would fit as it's for the right side door, just theres 2 wires and a 2 pin plug instead of 4 wires and a 4 pin plug to connect to my UKDM wiring. Any ideas to work round this bro? Damn totally my fault I should've known plugs would be different being that RHD - UKDM and LHD- USDM, Totally my fault 🤦🏼 Please help 🙏🏼🙏🏼

If you are able to take the motor apart. Clean the inside of the motor. Electrical contacts etc. lube any shafts or gears. Your motor will often work like new agin.

What if the window motor works and window goes down and up but jutters before closing completely. It’s as far as it closes leaving a 3/4 “ opening???

Most likely will need a motor and regulator assembly, I have probably 4 videos on windows on my youtube, that's my guess.

My power windows and power locks don't work. Should I try this this trick? I am going to assume that the window motor has nothing to do with power locks. And again both windows & locks are not working. Every time I replace the fuse it still won't work.

I've seen this for fuel pumps but it was more of a last ditch effort, what is the science behind this?

Yes fuel pump, I used to bang on the bottom of the tank with a rubber hammer to quickly diagnose fuel pumps on suburbans a trucks, starters also, reason the motor gets stuck and the jolt free’s it, usually do to brush wear

motor has carbon brushings with a spring. they consume and get smaller and smaller till they not pushing on the rotor . hitting it wiggles the 2 carbon pieces so they get in contact again. not an expert but that's my theory. edit LOL I ve see the reply after I wrote

the short answer, brushes are worn and don’t make a good contact anymore, hitting it with the hammer kinda repositions components, long answer: The commutator on the window motor is probably worn. This causes a poor fit against the brushes and whacking the motor causes a better fit; although it's temporary. The situation would be the same as a worn starter motor that will start working again after being whacked briskly with a hammer.
