How to repair an engine starting motor for a big block Mopar

This is not another restoration video. Here i Try to figure out why a remanufactured starting motor does not work. Applies to other starters as well. A common problem is the internal winding loses connection to ground in the housing itself. Could be helpful if you already replaced everything and it still doesn't work. How to repair a starter.

I was thinking that my old mopar starter was ready for the bin when the solenoid terminal stripped but this video gave me the confidence to pull it apart and solder on a new one. I would never have tried it otherwise. Thanks

Thank you! Yes, the problem with the ground point is many times overlooked, thats why I wanted to do this video.

@@ifixmycarmyself2502 definitely a good idea. So far I’ve found these newer mini starters don’t allow much when it comes to repair. But I will say they help with needing a little more room with things like headers etc…and a bit lighter too, if you want to save weight. On the old ones, at times I found the contact disc in the solenoid would have burn spots on it. Sanding it or flip it to the other side and it ran like new again. Ahhhh the good old stuff…👍
