taking pictures definitely helps. On areas with lots of odd cuts I found marking the shapes with chalk arrows all in the same direction really helps.

Don’t underestimate the sand! They can take quite a few bags some dips 🤯

I had a job like this in the summer. Told the customer I could replace a few broken blocks with ones he had in his shed. Honestly mate I spent hours trying to get the blocks back in. I’m hey seemed slightly wider than the older ones. I swore I’d never offer to do this again. You’ve made it look a doddle though 👌

Haha I had a job shortly after this that didn’t look that back but when I started it took me 6 hours and 7 bags of sharp and I didn’t charge the customer 🤣 luckily I don’t get asked very often 🤣🤣🤣🤣

@Weirjetwashing I stuggle to gauge what to charge for it as it’s a strange old job and only a diy fix but yeh deffo won’t be making that mistake of doing it for free again 👀🤣

Interesting, thanks. What do you recommend if the rising is caused by tree/shrub roots. I've heard some people cut roots out completely or shave them down with an angle grinder but some say that damages the tree/shrub.

Hey! So iv only ever done it as an add on to cleaning a driveway but I guess if I was to do it as a stand alone I’d just charge a half day rate/day rate plus materials depending on the size needed to relevel

Normally I just charge for the cost of the sand £10/£20 or something like that as I’m not a professional but it takes about 30 minutes so £30 add on wouldnt go amiss

That how I do my own acing since I can’t afford to get someone to do it I’ve taken out so many pavers i can do what I please lol

I've watched several repair videos because I have a problem. None of them added sealer after the repair.

Why would they add sealer? It has nothing to do with block paving. It’s an optional, all be it, waste of money service/treatment that you can add after the fact.

Thanks Kirkside, i am a widower and can't afford to hire contractors to do everything. I raised some pavers successfully but felt it needed some protective coating as the installer didn't do a great job and I felt the sealer would make it waterproof. I'm learning, mostly trial and error. I'm 77 years old and will tackle anything but electricity.

Try giving some advice on what I could have done better rather than just saying that it’s not helpful. It’s just a DIY fix, but I’d be curious to know, firstly, why it would sink in 2 years and not earlier and secondly how to improve it

Wayne just remember to level them off every year and they will never sink after two years! Alternatively enjoy your tarmac?
