In the worst way I cut them like an idiot. They actually make a plug and play speaker now that will fit the connection to the speakers this comes with.

Hi Ryan. No, there is a mounting bracket that comes with the speaker that has several placement holes for various mounting situations. There is a combination that fits the Jeep holes perfectly. You just have to make sure you use a longer screw (provided with the speakers) to get it to grab the threads. I used these same speakers in the front, and when mounting they fit up there as well. It's just really awkward to reach if you haven't taken the entire dash off, which I refused to do. Thanks for watching and your comment!

A sub is defiantly needed. There is no bottom end whatsoever with the JBLs, but the highs are there for it. Interested to know what it sounds like when it all comes together.

Hey man. Thinking on going with these speakers to replace the stock garbage in my JKU 2017. When replacing the front 6.5" did you use these and how did they fit? Did the speaker rub against the plastic of the dash?

When you pull it out, they are black and white. However, they have a connector that goes into the speaker. Around the 5:00 mark you can see it, you have to cut and splice the wires.

I kept the grill off. I don't mind the way it looks, especially from the front seat. While I was installing it, your option is to probably not use the foam in-between the mount and the rollbar, but you will risk rattling. If you can find a thinner piece that may help. Your last option is to keep the cover off that comes with the GX602's and leave the speaker bare.

I went with the JBL GX602s myself for my 2016 JK Unlimited. Great recommendation from this guy. Only difference I did to mine is I placed washers in between the speaker grille covers and my roll bar so that the tweeters weren't protruding the way they are in the video. Three washers per screw did the job nicely. I also disconnected the roll bar tweeters. For the front, I left the factory tweeters connected. Used poly fill on both the roll bar and fronts. I purchased the Kicker speakers before returning them for these JBLs. Just was not impressed with the build quality or sound. I'm all stock, no amp...these JBLs allow your factory stereo to power these nicely without needing an amp. A little lacking over all on the lows like he mentioned, but not as embarrassing as the stock speakers.

The mounts that came with the JBLs have several hole options. There were holes that did line up - they almost made a triangle shape to do so.

+Sylvain Beauchamp I actually took the original cover off and used the one that came with the JBLs. I didn't like that the cover was putting pressure on the tweeter. The only thing then is that the original tweeter in the sound bar is exposed. I think this can be covered up or used with another smaller speaker.

The hard way. By hand. They make easy connect plugs. Recommend those.

They are so bad. I can't believe Jeep puts them into the soundbar with all the other particulars about this vehicle. I just don't get it.

That's so funny - I dremmeled my stock units to scavenge the mounting ring before I read this. Worked out great too.
