I just replaced pins with greasable ones on my HZJ79. I did not use two jacks. 1) Jack up the rear pumper until the wheels barely lift off. 2) Put jack stands as high as they fit under the frame as in the video. 3) Lower the jack little by little until the jack stands are partially loaded. 4) Tweak the height of the jack until springs feel mostly unloaded and pins can be hammered and pried out semi-easily. (When hammering pins, put the nuts on as not to hammer on the thread. Because I didn't trust all of this much, I did not lay under the car for the whole work.). My pins were very dry even though the car has 8000 km.

Great vid, Mate. How do the greaseable pins work in the front of the springs, where the steel sleeve looks like it will keep the grease from entering the gap between the bushings and instead just push out either end?
@CamshaftFM
@CamshaftFM Жыл бұрын
Yeah that’s what I thought too but with out the steal insert it’s too loose. I don’t think it’s that important for the front ones as they don’t pivot as munch as the rears.

Great vid cam. Did mine last week and your guidance was first class. Cheers. As an aside was wondering if you may be able to help me. My rear fuel tank won’t release fuel but the rest of the system is working fine. Any ideas mate. Cheers
@CamshaftFM
@CamshaftFM Жыл бұрын
Cheers mate. Might be a blockage in the hose or the electric valve that lets fuel flow from the back tank might not be working properly other than that I’m not too sure iv had no issues with my one.

I've just had my rears done cause they were splitting, i've just done another 3000Ks lots of dirt and one of them is split again, any idea on a cause?, its OME sperings and shockies, replacement bushings were not OME
@CamshaftFM
@CamshaftFM 2 жыл бұрын
Not really sure mate could have been incorrect fitment Or the bushings could have been poor quality

Were the old rear bushings rubber or poly? If rubber, which do you prefer? I'm leaning towards an OEM rubber type because I don't want extra noise/vibration on my FJ62.
@CamshaftFM
@CamshaftFM 3 жыл бұрын
It would have originally had rubber but they were poly ones and I put poly ones in. I’d use poly ones they last longer and the noise and vibration difference would be so small you wouldn’t be able to tell the difference
@oldtoyotas
@oldtoyotas 3 жыл бұрын
Ok, thanks for the input. My only experience with a poly bushing was a poly motor mount in my old FWD car which only lasted about a week, too much feedback. It makes sense there would be much less in the leafs.
