great vid it really helped. went to home depot and the fan piece looked different w/ only 2 black wires. luckily it all worked.

I had two ceiling fans to stop working over two years ago. One was a broken pull chain. I had already bought two new ceiling fans to replace the two broken ones when I stumbled onto your VERY HELPFUL video. With your assistance, I was able to take the switch from one fan and attach it to the fan that needed a new pull chain. The wires were an exact match! I now can sleep under a ceiling fan again! I still have to replace the other fan, but, I will only have to pay someone to install only one for me...OR maybe you have another VERY HELPFUL video that could instruct me as to how to take down an old ceiling fan and install a new one! THAT would let me save even more money! THANKS, AGAIN!

We actually took the black section off the broken part while it was still attached. We were able to see the clips that were holding the wires, pry the clips to remove the wires, and one at a time push the wires into the new part.

What about a diff fan? Are all fan wires equal? Also, have to get same switch or doesnt matter?

The Venders at Homedepot don't have the exact parts they have a 3 speed by 3 wire only not a 3 speed and 4 wire :) checked 2 of them go to an electric supply store

Hi, great video! I'm in UK, I bought a replacement pull chain switch for my fan but it didn't come with the 3 wires included. I can cut the wires from the existing switch to use but how do I insert them into the pull cord switch? There's no screws for me to tighten the wires onto the switch. Can I just insert them and expect them to stay?

Is it safe to assume this is the same for the light chain? My scenario is opposite to this one. But the fan definitely came from home depot.

Has to be a way to take the switch mechanism apart and put the chain back in it. I see two plastic tabs holding the cover on, but I can't seem to pry it loose.

There's no need to worry about the ceiling wires either. As long as everything was installed properly, it is no different than working on the rest of the lighting fixture.

Correct me if I'm wrong but why cut them you just pull them out like you're unplugging it and then plug it back in instead of cutting the wires I don't know if you know that 🤔 maybe I'm wrong
