Brian - Thanks. I should start a channel called the "Mechanical Idiot" rich with humor and curse words......my turnaround was more like 5 hours....due to just not knowing what to do whatsoever. Finally had to abandon one of the hose clips for a traditional hose clamp as it kept popping off. I'm sure that I've shortened the life of the car, my life, and the Napa auto parts guys life as i asked him to show me the schematic 20 times as I kept struggling. Damn proud of myself for following this video, I'll try to keep it in my lane going forward. Thanks again, really enjoy watching people who are awesome at their craft.

this happend to me on my pathfinder 2008 wtih 160k miles. insted of replacing the hole assembly i just broke the rest of the plastic hose connector at 1:57 to reveal the aluminum tube. then i bought a "T" radiator hose connector and use JB welds to make it a permanent install.

@@damesiojohns7176 i just used a 'T' heater hose connector, some heater hose that fit the connector, and hose claps form autozone. i used a heat gun to to soften the plastic from the t-connector so i will mold to the aluminum tube. it was a easy and cheap fix, i think i spend like 7 usd. the only hard part was to get the remaining of the old plastic tube from the aluminum one to make space to fit the T-connector. its been 2 months since i did the fix and its holding well, my concern its that the rest of the plastic from the assembly will eventually break down.

Mine blew out yesterday in the same place. When I pulled the broken piece out of the end of the hose, it just crumbled in my hand. Seriously thinking about going to a mechanic this time. So tired to having to fix things on this truck. I recently had the passenger wheel off to replace a crankshaft sensor. That's just one of the many things I've done myself so far. This problem just started Sunday and I'm already down to nothing on coolant. Engine temp still reads normal for now, but smoking from coolant splattering all over the inside.

Is there a easier way beside needing small hands ? One side wants to align while the other hose doesn't act like it wants to cooperate. It's like it's kittywampus. @@anthonysorrenti3661 I have an 05 Pathfinder. I haven't had to do much work to it. I JUST changed the spark plugs after 270,000 miles on it. Everything has just been maintenance for the most part. I have changed the crank and camshaft sensors, blower motor, the engine oil cooler o-ring, valve covers/gaskets, and reengineered the heat hose assembly. I had a friend that worked at Nissan hook me up with the recall of the radiator/transmission replacement at about 100,000 miles. Other than that everything has been really cool for me. I don't race it around and I have almost always used supreme gas. ALL my fluids are fully synthetic and used Duralube for fuel treatment and engine oil treatment regularly. So far on my spark plug change, I have not noticed a difference on gas mileage. I DO have a problem with the climate control system, but I work it with the auto feature to get the fan speeds that I need. I guess that I am too cheap to spend $300 on a new unit. ESPECIALLY with 270,000 miles on the vehicle. I am not looking forward to the problematic fuel pump replacement. I did see a video of a guy cutting the floorboard to access the pump from the top, which I thought was brilliant. I will need to figure out how I want to seal it back up before I need to perform this fix though. Good luck with your Pathfinder!

If you're in a cold environment: swap the radiator for an upgraded one. (It also brings Trans temp up to operating temperature). If you live in a warmer climate, I would just bypass the cooler and close the trans fluid

UGH Put my truck in shop for another repair and repair man leaned on this and broke. But had to have been going bad. same hose!!! Since there are no valves in this line. If you can't afford to replace the unit. Isnt it possible to unhook from the heater coil and and cut at connecting solid bar since its plastic seperating them making it 2 lines instead of 1 unit and run a heater hose clamped from heater core line to the connecting bottom line? I looked at plastic weld materials but considering temps can get to 220 in heater cores and seems plastic weld material is rated at 200, this would be the best option to cut that plastic bar and make it 2 pieces to connect a hose. WHY the hell they make these kind of parts out of plastic is rediculous! The only thing you loose is a bleeder point hence leave the radiator cap open till the air is out

ss hog You’ll have to do some research to see if you can just get the plastic part. If you can Then yes you can just replaced the part if it’s available.

ss hog I have the same issue where plastic sleeve broke off as the video shows but I am confused why it is required to replace the whole assembly which costs close to $300. I was hoping to just replace the plastic piece where the 1" and 1/2" hose goes to..????

I just replaced the cam shaft sensor, brushed against that same hose and out came the coolant... what a terrible design! That plastic just crumbles away

Hi Brian and all.. I have a question and hopefully someone can help. I had the heater hoses replaced at a shop, and right after that was done, the car started acting up; to be specific, the car started heating up when idling, specially when stopped in traffic. I don't know if it helps, but when that happens, the AC throws a "dusty" smell. Any ideas what might have been done wrong? I took the car back to the shop, but they said that it didn't heat up for them, I know it was either that or they cannot figure it out. Also, FYI.. I just changed the thermostat but that didn't fix the problem. Thanks in advance!

Dan Lopez sounds like there’s an air pocket in the system. This will stop coolant from flowing. The shop may need to vacuum bleed the system to get the air out.
