Nissan 4.0 heater core inlet and outlet connectors are prone to failing. Fix it now - or risk be stranded or overheating your engine!
Dorman aluminum Inlet - Part number 626-610.

This inlet replacement done on my 2nd Gen 2005 Nissan Xterra Offroad 4x4.

just replaced mine this weekend, plastic broke in the same place. I got the hose section replaced too because I was there.

Good call. Can’t believe how brittle those things are! Easy fix to avoid a catastrophe!

Mine broke to. Then i crushed the core inlet. So i had to replace the heater core. Such a pain but i love my xterra.

Bummer! Not gonna lie - I was a tad nervous taking it off and really hoping I didn’t cause 10x more work by damaging it.

what's your thoughts on skipping that replacement coupler altogether and just connecting the hose directly to the core outlet fitting? problematic?

I know people have done it. Heard of a roadside fix doing that a time or two as well. If it doesn’t leak and doesn’t pull the hose too much I don’t see why it wouldn’t work long term too.

Did you ever had an issue about the vdc and slip off light on the xterra . Nice vid btw.

Never used it in 3 or 4 air bleeds (new radiator, timing stuff replacement, etc.). Was always afraid to touch it. Good thing I never did. 😄 Just always burped it, revved the engine a few times, squeezed the big hoses, etc. and never had an issue.

Low oil pressure is oil channel gaskets broken. They are behind the timing chain. My condolences to you.

All 2005 Xterras and early 2006s have a live oil pressure gauge (instead of a dummy gauge which just sits in the middle). What you’re seeing here is 100% normal. All timing components including channel gaskets were replaced by me a couple years ago - should outlast the vehicle. 🤞🏻

@@TrailRunnerGuy ok, thats great to hear. Unfortunately my oil channel gaskets did not get changed when the timing chain was changed. I assumed that was the case for you. My apologies.

@@daniellore2961 all good! Sorry to hear that. Opening that thing back up is a total pain (I’ve opened it twice…try #1 was one tooth off. Major oops! 🤣)

@@TrailRunnerGuy yea, its going to be a pain. I'm considering swapping in an ls v8. As good of an engine as the 4.0 is it is a mess to work on. I wouls rather have old school in the nissan package. I'm still thinking on it though. It will be a challenge.

@@TrailRunnerGuy I just realized that the ls has an oil channel gasket behind the cam retiner plate. Can't get away from it.
