Great video mate. I did mine the other month. That ball joint in the hub is next c**t of a job. Started spraying plus gas on it already. Expecting swearing!

Cheers , if you go back through the RR videos I’ve uploaded I did a ball joint. Ended up using a concrete breaker to get the thing off 🤣

Good video, iv done the same on my old td6 and my 4.2sc, only thing I’d say is use a large hammer, I use one of the short handle mini sledge hammers, for the arm I also did the ball joint but used a 3 leg puller to get some tension then 2/3 wallops and it came free. The track rod end I undid the ball joint first then only crack the lock nut 1 turn, then used 2 stillsons to get it moving and unwound, saves using the grinder, also the two hammer trick, one below- one above hit as same time and that helps crack things off. As a lubricant, ATF & acetone, cheap and works very well.

I have tried these thìngs but never works for me . I always spend ages trying to get the things off and I give up and grind it off 🤣 I’ll have to have a look for some of that for the next job , thanks for that 👊

@@DrivewayHustlersno problem, if you’ve done your gearbox you’ll have atf and acetone I just got a litre cheap on Amazon, only downside is having to mix it each time as they separate and the acetone doesn’t like being kept, iv tried in a spray bottle.. it desolved the straw, put it in a brake cleaner spray.. it desolved the seals. If it’s stillsons you have problems with make sure teeth are clean and sharp, once worn they can be tricky to get them to lock on but once on they will move things nothing else will.

Try Bulldog BDX release fluid, expensive, but the stuff is amazing!!! I have an identical Range Rover to yours, 6 years ago it was the cheapest one in the UK, we rescued it from a field! haha.

Thanks for that , I’ll look into it ! Mine was £1500 , sold it for £3k and regretted it ! A year later I was on the lookout for another one and couldn’t find anything as good as the one I had sold , so I tracked down the buyer and asked him if he wanted to sell it . He said he was going to put it up for sale , as a new work van was coming . I bought it back for £1500 , and over the the past 2-3 years I’ve spent about 2k on it . Did yours need much to get it back in working order ?

@@DrivewayHustlers It needed a fair bit to get it sorted, it was parked up with ABS and infotainment faults no one could fix, then mice had eaten bits of wiring loom and made nests, so we stripped the whole interior to clean it and make the repairs. Ditched the standard stereo and put a BMW android unit in with the ibus app(makes it like a modern car!) The gearbox popped a few months later so it went to bristol transmissions for one. Then the suspension compressor packed up. All of a sudden far from the cheapest range rover!! haha. Just wear items and servicing since. Since then its been all over the UK and france with a caravan on the back. I bought it last may when dad replaced it with a 4.4TDV8 westminster. Hilarioulsy its been pretty fault free the last couple of years, then since ive had it, its had a few injectors and Ive just rebuilt the suspension valve block and compressor.

Just hit the knuckle with a lump hammer and comes off straight away! A claw hammer is no use for a Range Rover! 😂. Good job done anyway! 🙂

I did give it a good whack but never does for me 🤣 cheers 👊
