Washer manufacturers should put a removable panel on the front (magnetic would be great!) so that the filer is easily accessed. I'm tired of pulling the washer out and half apart to do simple maintenance.

I replaced the squeeze clamps with stainless worm drive clamps. The squeeze types are for saving a few cents of time and expense at the factory! Around here, a minimum markup of 300 percent is usual on parts if a service guy comes. They have to go get it (nobody stocks anything in the 10:07 struck)and that is an hour or more of time and vehicle charge.

Yes there are special pliers I had one for the longest time and never knew what they were for until about a year ago saw them on a video 😂

A $10 bill? That is old! I'm surprised that unit doesn't have an access door for the filter. String is another one that fouls the pumps. Drained and checked once a month around here (get your HVAC filters too). You're the man, Shannon!

This is a great video! I’ve been on the internet for almost half hour and a bit stressed for not finding the exact video on how to fix my machine. Ive cleaned the filter before but this time I’ve got some serious cloth up in there that just won’t come out so I’m ready to take the next step on dissemblingthe whole thing and see if I can get extra space to clear out that piece of cloth that has giving me headaches! Thankyou for your work

Screws and drill bits in the filter? So you were the culprit, not your wife! 😂 I had to replace my water pump last winter... Checked the filter first and found jewelry, earrings and fine necklaces! No leaking, the pump just quit and wouldn't drain the tub! Everything is good now!

Wow, a $10 bill in there. At least you found some treasure for your effort. I'm also not a fan of those spring-type hose clamps either, I use a tonge-and-groove pliers on those. Is the pump filter accessible from the front? I have an old Kenmore front-load washer upstairs for my tenants, I'll need to clear that filter--it's never been done since I've owned the washer for at least 15 years! 😧

Our Miele washer has the pump access at the bottom front for filter removal and cleaning! No need to remove the back panel just for that!

9:47 for this bending clamp , I think the best way is to use vise grip (locking pliers) to wide open it and then fit / close it . thanks for the video.

That is wild. I would not think that a screw or a driver bit could get down into the pump like that. Very informative, and was not as hard as I would have thought. Thanks for sharing Shannon But my next question is who's pockets would have had a driver bit, or screw in it to do that ?!!

Yes, there is tool for removing and applying that clamp. I happen to have one and it’s made by Snapon believe or not.

Have the same machine. Make sure you take those sheet rock screws out of your pants! Cut right through the plastic pump on ours 😂

I don't know if my Samsung has a filter like that. When mine was new the drain pump was replaced under warranty. Had power going to it, just electrically dead. I had to drain the water out of the tub, could have replaced the pump myself it was right there when the back cover came off. But for the warranty someone else did that part. Thanks for the video.

I use my phone camera to peek into small areas like that. It shows you what the fingers cannot see.

If you try that, be sure to drain everything out and clean the tray first. Water can exit via that front seal (multi-point mess), and debris can also wind up back under the drum. Modern washers are light enough to tilt and put blocks under for a few more precious inches.

So I must have the only washer where the pump is in the fro t of the machine and there is no access door or panel on the front.

Josh, this is a pretty disorganized video. Partway thru, Shannon mentions that he unplugged the washer at the start. He says there are 3 screws--then later corrects that: 4. Says don't bother getting the washer on a platform, then changes his mind. Never gives a good look at the little ratchet wrench he uses, which is important, because clearances are very tight. A re-record after the trial run would have made this demo a lot more helpful.
