Yes you are spot on I would guess that the regulator is at fault but you would need to tale it apart to find out I'm afraid.

@@Martysworkshop Thanks for the reply Marty! Yeah I'm gonna do that. Regulators aren't cheap enough for me to buy before confirming! All the best and I'll let you know when I'm done, I should try something next week

Hello the motor is bolted to the one half of the mechanism so just remove like i did and swap over th motor on the floor, thank you for watching

I didn't remove the window so i am unsure sorry, but usually once you remove the mech you can the slip the window out.

Usually, the window is quite stiff in the runners, so it should stay in place. If it is loose, then you can tuck a piece of cardboard inbetween the glass and seal, which should hold it up. Thank you for watching

@@Martysworkshop trouble is that the door is damaged and needs relpacing so I've got to remove window and mechanism.

I would say motor but to cheak remove motor out of reg and see it it moves freely. Hope this helps

Try polish in the seal around the outside of the window, this is quite common

@@Martysworkshop Ah, no, it's not due to friction. It's funny how it happened. It was working fine, then I noticed that somebody had pushed my wing mirror in in a car park, to make more space to pass, I guess. I went to wind the window down to push it out again, and found that the window would only wind down an inch or two at a time - but it stops because power to the motor is cut after it winds down just a bit. Normally, if I click the down switch (momentary press), the window will wind down all the way, but if I press the switch for more that half a second or so, it will continue to wind down till I release the button, then it will stop. This means there is a timer somewhere to decide whether it was a momentary push or a long push - and I'm pretty sure it is that timer that is affecting how the window winds now. I thought it would have something to do with the wing mirror, because it had been pushed in,. and is physically close to the window motor, but I have taken the window mechanism out, and now, I'm pretty sure it has nothing to do with the mirror. I'm having a real struggle to get the window motor back into place again. I've spent a couple of hours on it, but it's behind the inner skin of the door, so I can't see behind it to locate the studs in the holes.

If it is going down really slow then i would say possibly motor, but if it is going down normal then jamming half way down with any clicking noises the definitely the mechanism

@@Ashbash-dq7ef it might be worth taking the panel off just to make sure nothing is jamming the mechanisum
