How to Replace Fuel Pump | Fuel Filter Replacement on Mitsubishi Outlander ASX Lancer EVO Mazda car

This video is outlining the replacement procedure for in tank fuel pump and fuel filter Assembly for variety of Mitsubishi and Mazda cars, as they are sharing same fuel supply module design and build but with different model numbers that can be found down below in this description box.
In general any vehicle has fuel filter that cleans the fuel before it reaches the engine. With improvements to today's fuels, fuel filter can last for up to 80,000 km (50,000 Miles), and when you have a clogged fuel filter, then you may need to change it earlier if you experience any of the following warning signs:
- Trouble starting your car engine, it is the most common sign of a clogged fuel filter.
- Accelerating or Can't speed over certain speed e.g. 100 km/h, as when you step on the gas to accelerate but the speed doesn’t increase or car struggle to speed up.
- Frequent idling and sputtering, means minor blockage on the fuel filter.
You will learn in this video how to change in tank fuel filter or replace fuel pump on the following cars, as they share identical fuel supply module:

The pump i bought was on amazon for 25.00. It has been working fine. The pump came in a box that had the brand name "deal" on it.

Thanks for the video going to attempt this in a few days on my 2013 Outlander sport. My vehicle has a rear bench seat that I couldn't figure out how to remove but after some some searching found out all you do is grab the seat at one of the corners and and yank up really hard. Bought my pump on Amazon for $25.00 hope it fits. Will post after my attempt as it may help others.

Hey man, any chance you've got an update on your pump replacement? Gotta do one on a 2011 Outlander Sport and can only find the entire assembly for over 600$. Trying to find just the pump but it seems impossible

Put the new pump in my 2013 outlander sport ES today I bought it on amazon for $25.00, Deal auto electric parts E8229. It is working so far, had some difficulty attaching the the strainer assembly to the new pump, it never felt like it seated properly but I knew the tabs would hold it in place so I just put it in. I have started it about 10 tens with no problems. Keep in mind I did not replace the filter assembly only the pump. The video by #ezy2learn was very helpful thank you. I did attempt to clean out the inner fuel filter by using carb cleaner I watched a youtube video titled servicing an outlander fuel filter or something like that. I think the video was made in India but not sure. I just did what the guy in the video did. Got a lot of dirt out of it. I tested the old pump after I removed it by giving it 12 volts and it was working so not sure if the filter was so clogged that the pump couldn't push gas through it or it was just working intermittently. Hope this helps someone out.

after watching your video.. i think my Mitsubishi Dealer is ripping me off by wanting $440 for a new filter and labour inclusive on my 2006 Mitsubishi Lancer, which i have booked in for next monday. i see by your video that the filter can just be cleaned... hmmm. and they are saying it takes several hours, hence the labour costs -whats your opinion.. or anyone elses please. Hi, great video!! I am told that the high pressure fuel pump on my wife's 2011 2.2 Di Outlander is broke and been quoted £1500 for parts & labour. It looks pretty straightforward in your video. What is the catch? I have seen some comments saying that the pump is available on ebay & amazon for $25 - $50. Are there any other fuel pumps on Outlander that I am confusing with? Please advise. Hey, this is for the petrol version of the outlander. Your model is diesel and the high pressure pump is bolted on the engine and runs with the timing system. The high pressure diesel pumps are usually $800 to $1200 just by themselves.

Hello what are the symptoms if u have bad fuel pump ? I had a mitsubishi lancer and everytime i rapidly press the gas pedal in drive it hesitates it choke and loosing power also i parked the car put it in park mode and press rapidly the gas pedal same thing loosing power and choking. Not sure if its fuel pump or catalytic clogged. I need some advice maybe u come across this also if there an error code if u have fuel pump faulty? Thanks

It could be air sensor issue or spark plugs! I am not really sure. Does your car slip?

At 6:15 Fuel Pump Filter, is the fuel filter made of plastic? If plastic, once cleaning is done with the proper cleaner, could it be good for another 30,000 miles?

The outer is plastic but actual filter made of some type paper. It was designed in certain way so we can't clean it and keep us buying new ones :) Edit: I misunderstood your question. I thought your question was about the fuel filter not fuel pump filter, yes it can be cleaned and reinstalled again, and that's what I have done using an air compressor. Thanks

@@conquistadortl9892 It seems like you have the diesel model. If this is the case, then you have air inside your fuel pipes, therefore the car won't start unless you bleed the fuel system. Please advise if your car diesel or unleaded petrol. Thanks

I was about to say can't we just buy a brand new thing with a brand new filter in it. Seems like a lot of steps for non mechanics, I already know at a dealership that it will be like 1500 to change it cause that seems like a common number for anything outside of an oil change.
