A Toyota Master Diagnostic Technician shows you how to replace the Hybrid Battery Fan Filter which will Prolong the life of your hybrid battery.
I say this in every hybrid video I make. This is the most important maintenance item on your Toyota Hybrid. Keep this filter clean and clear and you should have no issues making your Toyota Hybrid battery last a very long time.
2 Possible filter part numbers for this model Prius. Around late 2012-2015 Toyota installed a filter from the Factory. The part no. for that filter is G92DH-47060 I don't recommend this filter as it's hard to install and clean. I recommend you remove it and install G92DH-47010 which is the other filter that fits all models from 2010-2015
This video applies to 3rd Generation Prius 2010 2011 2013 2014 2015

Just 3 days ago, I came across your video about changing oil every 5k and not the 10k. So I subscribed to your channel. Then I found this video and ordered a filter and couldn't believe, how dirty the original filter was. A simple $25 filter just saved me thousands. Thank you for this video!

I can’t believe no Toyota dealership ever recommended me to get this clip on filter for my 2012 Prius ... I just went yesterday to order that part and it was only $17. For 2015 Prius V reach under rear passenger side seat with a vacuum cleaner hose and vacuum any debris from screen. Your done. Don't let things accumulate under the seat that might block fan intake. I discovered this after following the directions from another video that instructed the screen be removed and cleaned. That was much more difficult than was necessary.

WOW!!!! What a labor saver! My wife is a dog lover, particularly German Shepherds. I didn't even know about the intake filter until I saw your earlier video, and (being okay with a short cut) I used a wooden skewer to pick the dog hair loose (of course there was a mat of dog hair!) and a shop vac at the grill to vacuum it out. I will order or buy a G92DH-47010 today and vacuum it when I clean the car - a 2014. Thanks a million! Unfortunately, we can only click on the thumb up once....

Thanks! You saved me lots of time. I was going to take the seat out. I just pulled the cover up and leaned it over as you suggested. I did not take the original filter out. The hose to my regular vacuum was to big to fit in. I rigid a narrow wand of about 1 inch X 1/2 inch X 10 inches long. As with all such projects, duct tape may come in handy. I vacuumed it clean and snapped the cover back. I can do this in less than 10 minutes in the future. I love all your videos.

Thanks very much for this video! When driving home just now, I got a message saying the battery cooling performance was low. I pulled out this filter, to find it was quite thoroughly clogged. After changing it, the message has not cleared. I am going to take it for one or two more drives, to see if it eventually goes away on its own. I even tried using the method for clearing the maintenance messages, which had worked before when I got a message about the hybrid system (after the engine air filter compartment was not closed properly) , and it worked then.

Having viewed your excellent video I ordered the external filter. My car is a 2013 Plug-in Prius ( UK Spec) the car is low mileage 30k miles. Removal of trim was dead easy following your instructions. Surprise, surprise there was no filter in position. The plenum duct was exceedingly clean, spotless, the rear seats have never been used ,I assume the fans must be relatively clean too. So easily replaced trim and snapped in new filter. The whole exercise took less than 5 minutes. - Many thanks for your videos. !

I'd have both filters on. The second filter doesn't create a big resistance but filters more of the air coming in. The part that is collecting the air and which you removed in your video isn't air tight so it'll pull unfiltered air from the side. The second filter will prevent unfiltered air going in

@@christianmiramontes5392 I'm in the UK. My Toyota dealer is a Stealership also. After putting my gen 3 in for a standard service, they phoned me and said it needed all sorts of things done, including a tyre change because of 2 nails in the tyre. Knowing the main dealer prices were expensive, I told them to just do the service. This was 18 months a go. Since then I've gone through 2 MOT'S with no problems and no new tyres. One thing the dealer said I needed was a £300 welding on a bracket for the rear exhaust. Turns out the there was a slight little crack on the bracket - and there are 2 brackets anyway. If I had agreed to the work they wanted me to have done the bill would have been over £800. I guess they're the same all around the world.

2013 Prius V with 91k miles. I recently inspected and cleaned the intake to the HV cooling system (under the rear seat) and found it and the squirrel cage blower remarkably clean and free from any debris. I did not see any filter, but discovered from the comments here that it did not come with a filter. After doing a factory recall on the car, the dealer says that the "HV fan vent is clogged with debris and is missing filter" and recommended a $375 "HV fan service and filter replacement." I suspect they did not really inspect the air intake - a reason I avoid this dealership. Question: should I go to the trouble of replacing the interior trim with a piece accepting a filter? If I recall correctly, the air actually comes from beneath the seat. Thanks for you delightful videos!

Wow, surprised my 2012 Plug-In had NO input filter whatsoever. Got into the trunk to examine the two cooling fans and they were pristine even after almost 10 years. Went to dealer and bought the outside mesh input filter.

I'm a taxi driver. A taxi or Uber driver should consider getting the bigger so their passemgers aren't running agaisnt it everyday, but good to know the non uber drivers among us have a better option. Thanks bro.

Wow great video and Information. I love my 2011 Prius 130K miles. Man i wish that I knew this earlier. Should I access and clean the fan itself, just to be safe. Saw that on Chrises video. Glad that I discovered you. I will Subscribe!

Thank you for watching my video! I think it’s a good idea to clean the fan as well. You won’t need to clean it again after installing a filter as it will catch everything from that point on

We have a 2011 Prius. No filter. It's 2023 now and the service department has never mentioned installing that outside clip-on filter. 🤦‍♂️ Since the standard way of accessing the fan involves a HUGE disassembly procedure, I'm going to try to snake one of those thin, flexible clothes dryer vacuum hoses in the duct vent to clean the squirrel cage fan before adding a filter.

Great advice in your videos. The filter or inlet on the wagon is not on the side but underneath the back seat. Have you a video on replacement of this filter version of the Prius V wagon?

Hi! On the Prius V it’s different and yes underneath the back seat. I haven’t made a video yet on the Prius V

Great filter and very simple to install. My question is can we keep both filters installed?
