How to Replace iPhone 8 Plus Glass - My Experience

I show you how to replace a display on the iPhone 8 Plus. The glass is glued to the LCD so they should be replaced as one unit. While some may be able to replace just the glass, it is very difficult to to do without damaging the LCD and is not advised.

Great tutorial! It really is worth it to buy AppleCare with your phone, especially if it’s the 7 or newer because they’re just too sealed up for the average person to repair themselves.

Makes way more sense to go to Apple to ensure its done properly and in the case of the 8/8+ not lose features like true tone or risk losing TouchID.

Can you buy a replacement screen that is fully assembled with the speaker and camera etc so that its basically just a plug and play install with the couple of tabs that you first have to take off? thanks.

Aaron, is it possible the newer iPhone 8 plus will not allow your home button to work. It works with my old screen only. I thought I tore it but I didn’t. It will not working with any new screen I’ve purchased.

Does the True Tone toggle in settings actually disappear when you put a display that doesn’t have it? Also, does that replacement have 3D Touch?

Yes it disappears. 3D Touch should still work

The liquid indicator on your display is activated (its red instead of white), your phone has had liquid inside it 😬

Unfortunately that can be turned red even under the situation of being in a humid area. It is a faulty indicator that costs customers a lot of money unfortunately even though there might not be any water damage.

Aaron, did you have the issues with TrueTone and the Auto Brightness after? My wife had a screen replacement by a third party that broke the Ambient Light Sensor. Had to end up replacing at Apple.

The iPhone was never waterproof, but just water resistant. If you put the adhesive on properly then yes it should still have ip67

Sheesh, just got my new glass cover and no way am I trying this! I thought I could just pop off the cracked front part and get the new one on there a lot easier than this. What the heck? Not your fault but I’m not unscrewing anything on my 600 hundred phone.

The screen is pared to the phone, so before you replace the screen you have to copy the serial number and transfer it to the new screen with a machine that only some professionals have.

This isn't a glass replacement. This is a touch id swapped to a new screen.

You can’t buy the display and the glass separate. Trying to separate the LCD from the glass is almost impossible and I’ve never seen anyone actually do that

Bro you skipped a lot of steps for new people. Like the Touch ID removal. You didn’t really show the adhesive removal/cable removal. It’s like the parts that you said were delicate you just skipped over for some reason when those should have been given the most detail.

All you do is remove it. That’s it. Undo a clip and warm it up and remove it
