todays video i needed to replace the rear brakes and rotor on my 2011 Jetta tdi. When I had it in the shop for the emission repair they said i'll need new brakes in the future. So the follow spring I got the parts and decided to tackle this job. I'm telling your right now if you live in the snow zone you'll most likely have every fastener seized like i experienced. Besides for the struggle replacing the brakes is a easy diy for the VW Jetta

Holy shit yeah. It was my 1st time doing it Just did my 2015 Vw golf. Rear pads and rotors. Some stressful moments on passenger side rear. had to drill my set screw off it was so rusted and some pretty heavy bangs with a hammer. Pads were down to bear metal. Took me a day to do. Had to go to hardware store to buy a longer ratchet for leverage to get caliber bracket off . Holy shit. Bigger job than I expected. Note to self don’t wait that long to replace these parts. Damn Canadian winters

@@puertoroc123456 There are 2 different rear rotor sizes. The 252mm you do not have to remove the caliper brackets. The 273mm like mine you do or just remove the top bolt and loosen the bottom and rotate the bracket down and the the rotor comes right off. Also those 2 caliper bracket bolts were stuck on mine. I couldn't get a big enough breaker bar on them. I used a shorter breaker bar ratchet and put a bottle jack under the end of the breaker bar to break the bolts loose. Real fun times!!

you can swap out rotors without taking the caliper brackets off. just drop the caliper, remove the torx screws and the rotor will "rock" out rear side first from behind the caliper bracket.

Actually my wheels on my GMC needed some beating to get off when I did a tire rotation. I used PB blaster and wire brushed off the rotor surface as well as the inside of the aluminum wheel and coated it with WD 40. Hopefully that will make it better when time comes for brakes

On some of our snowplow trucks, we’ve had to use a pneumatic jackhammer (we use to break up concrete) to get some of the wheels off of the brake rotors and drums.

Well on these foreign cars (vw anyway), they have lug bolts so the small torx bolt helps to hold the rotor in the correct position while fitting the brakes back on-a bit easier then turninhg in a lug just to remove it again to put the wheel on

That isnt stuck in my book. But even those hammer taps damage those bearing. I use a disk puller. Ive had my friend 2012 tdi send a disk 3 meters away when it came off. Shook the whole car. And since I used a proper puller, not a slight once of that force was applied to the bearing. Impacts are bad for bearings. They dont fail immediatly, it just reduces their life .

Triple square has double the points, and they are cut completely differently. You could try to use a torx inside a triple square, but... that's probably going to destroy something and make for a very long day. Apparently, the germans invented this for designs & locations they knew were going to get stuck more often than not? They learned to love their own custom tooling in ww2, as it meant their tanks couldn't get stripped to repair enemy equipment.

The cp4 injection pump aint too great. I made a video about it vs a cp3 correctly engineered pump. We have lower than ever lubricity in diesel than ever and they switched from hardened steel to aluminium internal, removed pressure lube bearings and use a cam vs an excentric shaft causing a lot more friction. Even duramax and fords got a cp4 then cp4.2 and it was a disaster. People retofit cp3 for better durability.

BSK Garage only problem, the pedal goes all the way to ground to stop. When I screwed one of the calibers back in, fluid came out. So that’s why the pedal is going down to the floor. I definitely pump the brakes after installation of the brakes I don’t know.
