Thanks for the video gave me a basic idea for 1st timer. I also went ahead and changed the oil pan drainage bolt whiched helped alot.

Somehow it seems a lot easier than doing it on a Sebring convertible. Those are the pits to work on. You have to dismantle part of the exhaust, oxygen sensors and support brackets to replace the oil pan or gaskets. Insane!

Two things that I would add if you are working on a 2001 Sebring 2.7. Loosen the exhaust clamps on both sides of the engine to help lower the pan below the two studs on the drivers side. Also, make sure that the gasket on the timing chain cover stays in tacked and you don't distort it while pushing the oil pan back into place.

Great video. One little thing I do with vertical oil filters is punch a hole in the bottom to drain the oil out, to avoid the mess from breaking the seal. It’s especially helpful with my diesel pickup, since it has such a huge filter.

No I did not have to replace the timing cover gasket. The job completed as in the video. The oil pan gasket was the only challenge, to keep it aligned, as I did this work with the car on jack stands.

Hello great video, but I see i'm not the only one who is asking. What more do you have to do, to remove the oil pan completely? I recently got ripped off, and wanted to know how badly i got screwed and coulda just done this with my basic knowledge.

i used a cheap eco guard oil filter & now, when idling, oil light comes on.goes away when i gas it..what do u think????? how can I fix/stop the oil light from coming on??? about that oil pan gasket,my thoughts r the same as James McQueen's.the 4th side of that gasket was open/(like a horse shoe).The original had 4 sides not 3.wouldnt it leak on the side that now, doesn't have a gasket?

I have a question for 1A auto! in that oil pan gasket kit,it also comes with a little black rubber O-ring, WHAT IS IT FOR? WHERE DOES IT GO??? IS IT FOR THE DIPSTICK???

D.j. B probably for the pickup tube. Imo I would have completely removed the pan to ensure proper cleaning and reseal ingredients at any seams in the engine block above the pan. While off you can change the pick up tube or ingredients and remove any debris in the pan.

It was such a joy to watch,...compared to I am sure the work it will be for me to do it... chances are,...on the ground on Jacks....its two times harder!! But, you did do it without pneumatic tools.... so I have some hope!! First to break the seal on my starter,...any suggestions? Its been awhile about a decade since I've worked on my car... 95 Buick Regal 2.8l straight 6

How big of a difference is it to do a 99 Sebring 2.5 v6? I know there are 16 small bolts surrounding the pan but are there any other bolts involved? I removed the small bolts but still cannot get the pan to budge. I must be missing something.

I have an 07 sebring and the black pan on the passenger side is the oil pan. the silver pan on the other side is the trans pan. this was confusing while watching this video, because your black trans pan looks much more like my oil pan than your oil pan does.

You need to take the studs out using a 5/32 socket.

Don, I didn't see you use any type of sealer when you put the oil pan gasket back in place. I did see you break loose some type of rubber sealer when you remover the pan but the new gasket was open on one of the ends and you didn't show how to seal the open end where the oil wouldn't leak. Maybe the new gasket could be joined together with some kind sealer before it's installed back on the oil pan? What do you think>

@@1AAuto I don't know anything about a car and I think my mechanic is trying to pull a fast one over me, how would I know I need a oil unit? The oil light isn't on but in March that light came on so I just put oil in and it went off.

Some previous comments about this have been recently deleted by A1Auto because their procedure does not work. They used a previously modified oil pan that had slots cut out so the pan will slide sideways off the studs a bit before dropping enough to replace the gasket. If you cannot slide it, it will not drop enough because studs will not come clear of the pan. Unless your pan has been modified, you will have to remove the exhaust pipe, a challenging chore. Sorry for the sad news! Comments regarding this should have been made by A1Auto in the video.

208 2.7l is quite a bit different, for those struggling. You need to take down the center frame support then take down a large cover off the transmission side to reach those last 10mm nuts. Taking the exhaust down is also very helpful for getting the gasket on/off

Video was great helped allot. Had the same problem with two 10mm bolts in facing front end. My pans not modified nor will i. Should be able to unscrew with a female torc socket, T20. I also bought gasket as used in the video but it came with gasket sealer, why is that?

It is a good idea remove the exhaust pipe for the following reasons: 1. To allow the oil pan to drop enough to clear the threaded studs (the pan dropped enough in the video but not on my engine). 2. To be able to clean the gasket surfaces on the oil pan and motor. 3. To apply gasket seal between the oil pan and the side engine cover. I did the job and did not apply the gasket seal between the oil pan and the side engine cover. Now I have leaks around the side-mounted 10 mm bolts and have to do the job again, this time with gasket seal. Removing the exhaust pipe and putting it back on was very easy.

It takes like 2 extra mins to drop the crossover pipe outta your way to properly drop pan clean surfaces and apply gasket makers in corner where it meets timing cover I don’t see This lasting long the way it’s done here

@David Bennett You might want to see if you can get a flathead screw driver between the bolt head and the bottom of the pan, apply a little bit of pressure as you try to back the bolt out. Sometimes you can get them to catch that way. Hope this helps you out. 1aauto.com 888-844-3393

Dude I can't be the only one saying this is an extremely irresponsible way to change an oil pan gasket. You have no way of confirming whether or not the gasket was completely removed. And if you're doing all this work, why wouldn't you just completely remove the oil pan and make sure it's getting done right? Couple exhaust bolts and unplug an 02 sensor and you're actually doing the job correctly and you can look like a professional...
