If memory serves right, that was part of the discussion last summer regarding a possible transfer of Maguire to WestHam. What they'd basically do is this (let's use a potential Sancho to Dortmund deal as example): On the one hand, you'd have the usual set of transfer agreements/ contracts by which Dortmund pays a transfer fee to MUFC, MUFC then waives their 13M per year contract w/ Sancho and Sancho signs a new 8M per year contract w/ Dortmund. And on top of that MUFC would additionally sign another contract w/ Sancho (call it 'bonus' or whatever) to pay him 10M in two installments over the next two years. Which means, it wouldn't be 'salary' per se (because there would be no existing employment of him at MUFC), but he receives the money nonetheless. Even better (from a MUFC accounting perspective) is that you could probably find an agreement with Sancho by which you pay the 10M not in two but maybe four installments or even six or eight (which would help w/ FFP, etc.).

Honestly I’d say quite a few issues: - too much change in the squad often not a good thing - Casemiro for 30M no chance, and you’ve got overinflated prices for Maguire, Lindelof, Eriksen, VDB, Williams, Greenwood and Rashford - Homegrown rule? You’ve sold all the English players, and you can only have a max of 17 not. You’ve got at least 18. - the prices you’ve listed for players is too low as well: Nico Williams is at least 40M, Todibo is at least 50, Lacroix at least 30, Kvaratskhelia likelier higher too (given what they have turned down for Osimhen). - we are very weak at left back (Calafiori plays there only in a very specific Motta system) - Stamenic interesting shout but don’t think he’s up to PL level - You have signed 4 centre backs, all of whom will want game time and likely want to be regular starters. Kwambwala would miss out too. - not signing many experienced players or leaders to replace the ones we’re losing - loaning out Amad not a good idea: when he returns his contract expires, so we’d need to make an assessment of whether or not to give him a new contract based only on loan performance Those are some of the issues. There are some good things you do though. Antony loan is a realistic temporary solution, Pellistri to be sold but usefully is probably one of the better ways to get value out of that deal, and the club typically don’t make the hard calls to sell someone with Mejbri‘s potential when we probably should sell him for his own development. Honouring that (whilst retaining a buy back) shows we have a youth player pathway that won’t stifle players and is therefore much more attractive to prospective youth talent.

And 8 goals is still only 8 goals. Perhaps a Club like Bayern steps in? For the Italian Clubs 40m would appear to be a lot these days. Maybe Atletico? Mate you can’t just judge players by looking at goals. Hutchinson and Summerville have been better than Amad was last season in the championship. If Summerville was at Man Utd now he’d look at more complete than Garnacho because of age. His all round game is better and more suitable against deeper defensive units

Summerville isn’t a downgrade. He’s a far more complete player atm than Garnacho. Garnacho’s quality mostly comes from his potential but he’s still very inconsistent over the course of a full season
