@NorthwestAdventurerNWA3 жыл бұрын
@@Alex-vu5uu Iirc, it would be a 3/8 breaker bar or the actual serpentine belt tool. m.northerntool.com/shop/tools/product_200396081_200396081?cm_mmc=Google-pla&Google_PLA&Automotive%20%3E%20Automotive%20Engine%20Repair%20Tools&Performance%20Tool&&ds_e_ad_type=pla&gclid=EAIaIQobChMI75LX28Tv7AIVfj6tBh1U6QTsEAQYDCABEgK-DfD_BwE&gclsrc=aw.ds

Very good video. I replaced my old bwlt a while back and I did not take tension off the tensioner pulley, while pulling the new belt over the water pump pulley. Your way looks easier and with less swear words. Thanks

I see that the idler pulley can be found in 2 different widths 32mm & 33mm. Which one is recommended? Does it really make a difference?

@@NewRoad So I did Replace Serpentine Drive Belt Tensioner no problem... But the Idler Pulley they sent me had the inside bearing of the pully was pushed in so far that when I tightened it it would not turn. It lock the pully wheel to the motor and would not turn. I put the old one on for now. Going to send it back and try it again. It looked just like yours. I only use genuine GM- A/C Delco parts. Got it on Amazon. Any thoughts ???? Do you recall the part Number you used ???

Why did you use the belt tensioner tool to remove the belt but then use a ratch to loosen it when you installed the new belt?

Just to show that you can use either tool for the job

I just baught an h3...the person I baught it from said the idler bolt broke....he just put a shorter belt on it? Is that find to keep it like that? What is the idler actually do? Can I keep running it without it?
@roostercogburn37712 жыл бұрын
That, I'd be very concerned about! I was always told the car companies always go with the minimum on what a vehicle needs. They don't go with any extra parts! Taking short cuts, is a real gamble. It might be complicated to remove the broken bolt. But maybe not so much, if any of it is sticking out.

Strange, but it left out that I said, glad your rig was going again! And that I didn't really like the HMMVs. 1 of my jobs in Iraq was working on them, when I wasn't driving in a road convoy.

H3 parts are not that expensive - I would always recommend to keep it to original specs and proper parts.
