All due respect: the Haynes manual for Ford Rangers 1993-2011 (ISBN-10: 1-62092-049-2) calls the part you're working on the "Starter Relay," and in the troubleshooting section 5-19 states that if you jumper across the terminals on that Relay (the ones that will give you a nasty shock) and the Starter Motor turns, the Starter Solenoid is bad, which requires the Starter to be replaced, implying the Solenoid and Starter Motor are one part. Is there a reason you're calling that the Solenoid and not the Relay? Real question here, not trying to troll!

Anyone know what the wire is called that runs from the Cylinoid to the Fuse box that has a plug on it,I need to replace mine.

I have a 1994 Ford ranger XLT 6cly,4.0ltrs I'm had to replace the starter because the old one quit working! Bought a motor craft starter rebuilt slapped it in hooked all the wires back up. Now put neg cable back on battery turned key started up! But starter keeps running. Replaced key switch and relay solenoid on fender still starts up and starter keeps running! Help me please

Which post should be the constant hot from the battery

Replaced battery due to being dead, had it tested and showed 6 volts and one dead cell ! Luckily I found a very thin wire broken from the solenoid relay to the alternator. When I attached them back together, it immediately started charging again. Multimeter showed 13.7 - 14.5 V. with accessories on. Question: While awaiting a replacement wire, what gauge wire is needed for a temporary fix ? I tried a piece of 14 gauge and it worked but got really hot to the touch ! 😳

I'm watching all kinds of videos about these starter solenoid that bolts in the passenger frame that if it's not grounded properly, it won't work. Is it true. I got a 91 Ford f350 7.5 and I put 2 of these on and it's just buzzes.

Where does the small black and blue wire go that is connected to the ground post on the solenoid?

Can anyone help me out on what to do with a 4 post starter solenoid on a 96 ranger ? It came with a 3 post but no where near me had them in stock . Currently starting by jumping the solenoid
