Thanks to you I used your video gave me the confidence to upgrade all my rotors and pads on my cruiser using the same DBA gear, first time I’ve done something like this. Supper happy with the increased braking performance and the fact I learnt something along the way thanks to you👍

Thanks Terry for another great video. I don't get the big deal with getting money from KZfaq you put so much effort and time into each video to keep use all entertained. The cost of the cameras and other items would be huge.The people that don't like that are just not worth talking about usually just to frightened to give anything a go and get jealous over other peoples hard work. I look forward to every episode thank you for all of your hard work. Simon.

1) Oil floats on water because it's less dense. Hydroscopic, hydrophilic and hygroscopic means "attracts, combines and keeps water" Hydrophobic means "repels water". 2) We get our LC's serviced every 10k by Toyota and do the oil and filter every 5k. So the brake fluid is done as per the book's 10k service interval.

Great vid Terry. DBA rotors are the number one choice for me. When my 200's brakes need replacing I'll be installing DBA T3 rotors and Bendix 4WD pads. Dot 4 fluid change for sure. Keep it up mate.

Thanks for the video terry. I have also changed my discs and pads and hand break shoes for an heavy duty kit. My kit came with braided brake lines as well. Did make a big difference to the feel of the pedal and would recommend you look into them as a replacement as well. Look forward to your next video Steve

Good on ya Terry! Your videos are better and better for contents, easy listening, well explained, good length and very good editing = you must put a fair bit of efforts and time in making them. Thanks a lot. Throwing bricks and small children at the screen 🤣🤣🤣 I was always under the impression that for insurance reasons the brakes were supposed to be serviced and replaced only by qualified mechanics, most likely is just my anxiety playing with my paranoide. 😩 Again thanks for the videos mate! 🖖

Thanks Max, I do put a great deal of effort into the videos and it’s very kind of you to notice and appreciate the fact. I’ve not heard the qualified mechanics/insurance issue. I guess if push came to shove, it would be close to impossible for an insurance company to prosecute that line of thinking. Have a great weekend Max, cheers😎👍

Terry.. thats Dirty… No short cuts please after beach driving, you should „Kaercher“ your underbody instead of „Gourny“ it… hahaha just kidding.. Having replaced my brakes on 150k with all the same DBA stuff you use in the first week after I got the LC200 back in 2019. passing age 10 years I consider now to pull the caliper and renew the rubber seal, piston and boot. Sure it will go with new braided extended brake hoses, new Dot4 high temp mineral brake fluid. Last call would be a repair seal kit for the master brake cylinder. Keep the sunny side up and Have a nice weekend Cheers

Mate, the grease supplied isn't meant for the area of the pad you've described, it's there to serve a purpose for when the pad has to move on braking application. The grease should be used on the edges that actually have to move, not where the piston contacts the pad!

It all worked out and wasn’t too hard. I found one side had a broken retaining spring on the pads. I’ve got one on order that I’ll need to go back and place once it arrives. I ended up having to test them before completing the break in phase when someone in front of me came to a sudden stop on the road yesterday. They did their job well. I’ll tackle the rear rotors and pads when I get all those parts delivered. Will be replacing the parking brake pads as well. Thanks again!

Great content Terry! Often video editors forget the audio and it receives little attention. This episode had an average of quite low audio. Most editing packages have floating audio meters but can be a little lacking. I recommend an Orban level meter application to assist with audio level assessment. I found recently KZfaq censors posts with URLs so if you search "Download Your FREE Orban Loudness Meter" it will be high on the search results. I recommend a VU indication peeking at -20 to -18 dBFS. I'm trying to assist as I'm from a television broadcast background and needed to keep such things to tight specifications.

Hallo Terry, Sorry, one more info Buy a brake fluid moisture tester calibrated for dot3,4,5. cost appr 20.- AUD Test the water content in the brake fluid by yourself. Toyota handbook recommends can’t cover the whole world 🌍 My Toyota in Thailand had to coop with 90% humidity most of the year. My Subaru in Beijing has to coop with 20% humidity and only for 2 month a year it goes up to 45%. Your home and most of driving done in sub tropic climate ? I guess so.. sure the driven kilometers play also a roll… So, For us No rule of thumb… or guessing, tech folks go and measure and for this easy as it can be Cheers

Hey Terry, the little electric pump that you used on the brake fluid does that same one also do diff and transfer case oil? I bought an oil transfer pump recently which when i tried to use it on my diff it failed miserably. After reading the instructions afterwards I found that it said it wouldn't work on gear oil, i.e. diff and transfer case oil. So my question to the unit you have used is whether you have had any issues in this regard or are you using a different pump? Love your Simpson desert series, an easy ride as compared to the one that Ronny Dahl has faced in the wet. Take care, Andrew 👍
@JafffaAdventures
@JafffaAdventures Жыл бұрын
Thanks for watching and for the kind words Andrew. The pump you referred to is the same for both the diff oil and brake fluid. I obviously flush the pump with whatever I am going to fill next before I use it. It definitely pumps at different rates depending on viscosity. For the diff fluid, it will transfer a litre in 5 minutes or so. For brake fluid, it can move the same volume in under a minute. I saw Ronny’s adventure and even commented in the hole Torbs hit in my episode 8. Little did I know at the time the dramas they would face. Cheers👍😎

G day Jay, I am running that DBA stuff since many years on different Toyotas and Subarus . Flawless and with an acceptable lifetime. Tried many others as well … But that all depends on your left foot! Yes… my right foot is only on the loud pedal. And buy the way DBA is value for money or in my book: Cheap like chips.. compared to the carbon stuff on my BMW… Have a good one.. weekend.. Cheers

I can’t remember exactly but they had a 12mm head, probably 1.5 thread pitch, something like a M8x1.5 if I was to guess. They are a pretty standard sized bolt used on the vehicle in various places. Good luck mate, stuck rotors are not fun👍😎
