In the past I always took my car to a shop to do brakes because I was too afraid to do them myself (you mess up brakes, you mess up your life). This time I mustered up the courage to try to do them myself. I was just hoping to install brake pads, but the rotors were scored and I was advised that I needed new rotors. This was way beyond my scope of expectation for a DIY job. I watched this video a couple of times and paused it through every step of the way. The right side took me about 3.5 hours because I couldnt get the bolts off. After getting all the proper equipment I was happy to get the right side done and saved the other side for another day. When I had another brave moment, I tackled the other side and taaadaaaah, I did my own brakes for the first time in my life. I am 62 years old and they say you can't teach an old dog new tricks. I wish I would have seen this video back when I was 25, I would have saved tons of money. Thank you Jim for your excellent detailed video.

Helpful for someone who just needs a refresh on the process so thanks. One suggestion to help you out is try to find a better camera angle/ spot for it cus when its behind you not only is it hard to see but mainly it's hard to hear what you're saying cus youre talking the opposite direction. Now I'm mad at myself. I always thought the front brakes would be more difficult than the rear ones on this car, so I've been putting off working on the front brakes. Now I have to deal with brake noise until the flooding in my area recedes so I can actually work on it.

The pads were free in the bracket but it's my experience that removing the rust and applying grease under the clips is the most important part of a brake job. What's your opinion?

Do they pads with the indicator tabs go on the inside or outside, outside being whrere the wheel mounts to the hub?

Do the pads with Indaktor go infront or back

Where does the abs wire hook up to on the wheel

On the opposite side of that same car, the drivers side.. do the mount bolts stay the same? Black rubber tipped one on top, and the other on bottom?

Extended moments of loosening and tightening but then you edited out the struggles. Hmm, wtd.? You think the viewers want to watch the easy stuff? They are here for the easy stuff? No. We wanna see the struggles and how to overcome them. I've done enough brakes to know the bracket can be a real pain in the rump. Thanks for video. I only needed to know if I was going to need a hex for these brakes since I'm replacing them away from home.

Torque specs would be handy. That would have made the video perfect.

Can't believe grand am bolts are 13mm and grand prix are 15mm
