Thanks for all these details. I did this and it's about as simple as an oil change. Unless you are replacing the radiator hoses, there is no need to even remove them. Also, no need to remove the air intake either. Simply take out the three bolts on the thermostat housing and move it aside with hoses attached. Pop out old thermostat, clean up a bit, pop in new thermostat. This is probably the simplest thermostat replacement I've ever done on a vehicle. Thanks again for the video.

A very important point left out. Always always use an OEM new Thermostat. You’ll pay more, but it’s worth it.

Thank you, I will de doing this tomorrow evening, however when you refilled the fluids did you add just straight antifreeze? I hope I can find the bottom hose, lol but should I replace the bottom hose as well. My poor car got very hot getting her home.

Would coolant sprayed out of the thermostat area? I have a leak and all my lines and hoses look fine, but there’s definitely a leak somewhere. When I step on the gas for a little bit it let’s off some white smoke from somewhere. So that’s definitely the coolant coming in contact with something hot.

Two questions. When I bought the thermostat it came with a gasket for the thermostat housing, not the O ring that goes inside. Yours didn't have a flat gasket. Hmmm. Also, I didn't see the link to the cool clamp tool. Also, is it recomnended to replace hoses since they are already off?

Yeah I'm not sure why. Here is that link www.amazon.com/OTC-4525-Cable-Type-Flexible-Pliers/dp/B000F5JM0O You can if you want to. I would if the hoses were not in good shape. Thanks for watching!

Do i need to purge the system and if so how do I go about doing it?
@2carpros6 жыл бұрын
Fill the rad turn the engine on with the cap off. Wait till the system gets hot and the air in the system should burp up. Then replace the cap or coolant reservoir cap. Thanks for watching!

Naw! Do this when the car is cooled down. Just put a large pan under the car directly under the thermostat housing. loosen the 3 bolts on the lower hose housing and pry it away from the block letting the antifreeze out of the hose. remove the 3 bolts and pull the housing and hose out of the way. if the thermostat isn't stuck open the block is still full, pry out the old thermostat and be ready for a gusher of antifreeze. Put the gasket on the new thermostat and install it into the block the same way it came out. Carefully position the housing and install the 3 bolts, making sure the thermostat doesn't slip out of place, Replace the antifreeze with a new 50/50 mixture. Ready 10 minutes.

This looks like they went out of their way to design a vehicle that is difficult to repair.
