How to Replace Water Pump on Honda: 2003 - 2007 Accord 4cyl, Element, Odyssey

This video covers how to replace water pump on Honda: 2003 - 2007 Accord (7th generation, 4 cylinder). This procedure is similar to the replacement of the water pump in Honda Element and Odyssey with the 2.4L K24A engine. People often ask "when should I replace my car water pump?" The water pump should be replaced as part of preventive maintenance of the cooling system to prevent overheating issues as cars age. They should also be replaced when key components of the cooling system are replaced. The bearings in these water pumps ultimately wear and fail. My case was a worn water pump bearing.
Of note is the fact that the replacement part for US and Japanese Accords are different and not interchangeable. The car worked on here is a US spec and the correct OEM part number is 19200-RAA-A01. Part number for the V6 is different.
The replacement part used in the video is the GMB 135-1500.

😂. The lack of 'free' room in the V6 engine is one of the reasons why I'm yet to own one.

I really appreciate your video and it really helped. The most difficult part was installing the new water pump's 3 lower bolts through the pulley. I used electrical tape to hold each bolt in the socket and used an electrical taped swivel to allow flexibility during installation. I highly recommend using a torque wrench for the water pump bolts because the torque is only 104 inch-lb or 8.8 ft-lb and you don't want to break them off. Also, use a serpentine belt tool because it makes it much easier to install the belt. Hope this info helps someone.

thanks for the video, i couldnt figure out where the waterpump was because every picture i saw of a chart of the belt it got described as an idler pulley, no one mentioned that it was the waterpump strangely

Well explained video. It’s not the easiest job on the 2.4. I struggled a bit with mine putting the pulley back on. It’s noisy where you live? Is that in the USA? lol

You will need a 19 socket and turn the crank on the near the passenger wheel. And check the cam on the timing cover to see the number

Not that too long to be honest. I was filming and working on it so can't really give a good estimate. If you have the appropriate length of extensions it shouldn't take more than an hour or so.

Piyke DIYAutoWorksNG that’s nice I saw both of them on rockauto. As for engine mounts which brand do you recommend besides oem. I’ve seen anchor as well as beck arnley on rockauto

If you see both then I will pick AISIN! For mounts, from experience, I now only do OEM especially for the computer controlled ones.

But there could be good aftermarket mount makers. Maybe just research reviews for whatever brand you settle for.
