Thank you for watching our 2015 Infiniti Q50 rear bumper replacement video. This is actually a previous car we worked on. If you watch our videos from the past, this is the same Q50 that we converted into a Q50s and showed you y'all how an insurance claim works. This customer just has some awful luck when it comes to driving around Houston. We're happy to help them out anytime they get in a minor accident. Working on this Q50 is pretty easy. You do have to remove the Infiniti Q50 taillight but we show you how to properly do so with the right tools.
TOOLS: You will need a panel clip removal tool, a plastic panel removal tool, or you can use a flat-head screwdriver instead. Be sure to wrap the screwdriver in a soft cloth so you do not scratch your paint. You will also need a 10mm socket wrench.
PROCESS:
Like any other bumper, this Q50 has an assortment of clips and bolts that need to be removed. We started with the wheel wells. Two clips need to be removed to separate the inner wheel cover from the bumper. There is one 10mm bolt that secures the bumper to the rear quarter panel. Once those are removed, we recommend removing the lower push pins to clips from the lower bumper. There are also four bolts that need removal as well. So far so good. This is where it may get a bit annoying. You do have to remove the tail lights to access four clips that secure the top of the rear bumper to the frame. To do so, you need to pop off the covers underneath the trunk lid. You do not have to remove the plastic trim in the trunk. We just didn't know any better but we're to make sure you do it right. In order to get the taillights off, we took our panel removal tool (or you can use a flat-head screwdriver) and wedged it on the inside of the taillight, where we took the panels off. We put just enough force for the light to pop off on the front end, then we wiggled the light fixture until the front end popped off. It's important NOT to wedge anything on the front part of the light because you do not want to crack the plastic housing. Just wiggle the light until the end pops out. Disconnect the lights and you now have access to the push-pins. Remove the bumper and the rear bumper accessories. Once you have installed the yellow clips and reflectors you can mount your new bumper. The process is the same as the removal but in reverse. Just baby step your way backward until the new bumper is firmly secured. Please let us know if you have any questions or if you would like to see anything else on our friend's Q50.
