Works -2013 Frontier Success! The TPMS light is now off. YOU must Deflate each tire as instructed, so the system can identify each wheel sensor separately. Once the system learns the sensors, it will turn the TPMS light off, and then back on until all of the tires have been inflated to the correct pressure.

I just figured I'd check this video out because I have looked for the past 1/2 hour for a YT video that shows where the ''TPMS Reset'' is on 2010 Jeep Patriot, which is supposed to be right under the steering wheel, which I couldn't find. Just about all of the videos are on how to re calibrating the sensors after you or a tire shop has changed tire sensors. I finally got the ''Low Tire'' warning light to go off and all 4 of my tires did show the correct tire pressure. lol, I hardly ever drive over 45 since I'm always doing just city driving and the that wasn't fast enough to get them to reset. So today I took it out & drove 50-55 mph. After like 4 miles the ''Low Tire'' light went out, the 1 tire that read 0 lbs slowly went up to 35 lbs. One less warning light on my instrument panel...

This worked great for me. my Tpms light was flashing for about a minute then would come on solid after I replaced one of my tpms sensors. once I grounded my paper clip 6 times the light started blinking again and didn’t stop blinking until I drove the car for about 4 minutes at about 20 miles an hour but I have an Altima just like the one in the video. Thanks again for the video

It kinda burns me that they use batteries in these sensors when they could've just put a magnet on the brake housing and had the device charge itself as the wheels turned. The TPMS readouts don't even show up till you've driven a few blocks anyways. With batteries, you pretty much have to buy new sensors every five to seven years which wouldn't be so bad except for the extravagant price they charge for them plus the chance that the needed models may not be available in the future.

Replaced one of the TPMS sensors on my 2008 Nissan Pathfinder LE V8 after the battery in the sensor died. Replaced the sensor with an aftermarket brand (VDO) purchased from O'Reilly Parts store at $50 vs. original Schrader brand. Pep boys installed and rebalanced tire for $27. However, Pep Boys did not have the attachment needed to reset the TPMS system. I tried the technique in this video with no luck, it would not reset. Took it to discount Tire and they reset the system for $25 and the warning light on the dashboard is now off. Of note, I asked Discount Tire if they would install a new TPMS sensor at some point in the future if I provided them with a new sensor. They said they would. This would be the cheapest route since Pep Boys is not able to reset the TPMS system after a new aftermarket sensor has been installed. I have read elsewhere that the Nissan dealership wants at least $200 for the installation of just one new TPMS sensor and $60 for just a reset.

2008 Altima. Made sure i am at 34psi 31ps 29psi and 26psi. From drivers front clockwise. I drove it on backroads for 10 minutes and it just kept flashing. I should say, prior to this it would flash for 60 seconds then stay solid on no matter what psi. I could not get it in learn mode until i unplugged battery(clear CMOS if you will,lol) and then it was on solid when i turned ign to "ON"(not start) then tapped it 6 times and started flashing. Flashed for the entire drive. So i gave up on it after that. Now it will start with steady tpms on light unlike before. I can also get it back in to "learn" mode. I'm going to try something i read elsewhere and drain all tires very low. Let the tpms system "see this", then fill to 34,31,29,26 as stated. Perhaps the whole thing is different pressure and what i may try is 34, 30, 25,21 or something like that with a wider marging. *I have not used a TPMS scan tool on it yet. So................in theory i could have a hardware failure like a bad sensor or bad rf receiver. Guessing that these things run 300 to 400mhz rf carrier signals. I just got the car as a spare while our POS Kia witht he bad engine is getting said engine replaced(not fun fighting with Kia btw) THANK YOU GUYS and thank for the video!

@ralphfirley3882
@ralphfirley3882 5 жыл бұрын
A 2003 Xterra may have an older version of tpms which does Not use sensors on each individual wheel. Instead, your light comes on when one wheel is spinning at a different rate from your other wheels (which is typically caused by the tire pressure being uneven on one or more tires). The only way to resolve this is to make sure each tire is at the exact same pressure and that your wheels are balanced. I had the same issue as you on my 04 Toyota which uses iTPMS (an older, less sophisticated version of TPMS).

My TPMS light has been on for 8 months on my 2010 Nissan Altima. The difference between my issue and the one you demonstrated in this video is that my TPMS attempts to reset (flashes) every time I start my car. After flashing for about one or two minutes the light stays on. I attempted to reset mine using your exact instructions, but it didn't work. I suspect that this means that one or more of my TPMS sensor batteries is dead. Any thoughts?
@melniksmotors
@melniksmotors 8 жыл бұрын
It could very posibly be yhat you have a bad sensor or dead battery. Have you ever replace any of your wheels or sensors. Because if its original set then you most likely have a bad sensor. Those batteries are non replaceable on those sensors. If you did replace tour wheels or sensors try that procedure few more times. If you had your tires replaced and this happened afterwards then most likely they damaged your tpms sensor while dismounting and remounting of tour tires.
@scottsimmons1134
@scottsimmons1134 8 жыл бұрын
+George Melnik Thanks for the quick response. The wheels and sensors are all original as I am the original owner of the vehicle. I did have the tires replaced, but that was 2 years ago. The TPMS light didn't start coming on until about 8 months ago. I do recall that the light came on shortly after a drastic, 30 degree F temperature change/freezing rain storm this past winter. I'm guessing a dead battery/bad sensor was the result of this sudden temperature change. I think I'll just ignore the light and continue manually checking my tire pressure regularly when I get gas. Thanks for the video and help trouble shooting!

Question... On my 2010 Altima mine will not turn off even after my sensor has been replaced. I did this procedure and got to the driving part, the light never turned off, I drove fast, slow for an hour.. I took it to a tire shop, and 1 sensor was bad, they replaced it and programmed the sensor. However the light still hasn't gone off. Now when I try to put it in relearn again the light will not blink, it just stays solid ALL the time, even while I try to tap that wire to ground, and yes, it is a good ground connection. Dealer said it'd be 140$ just to diagnose it which seems nutty just to hook up a scan tool and clear it as that's what seems to be needed... Anyone have any ideas? Weird thing to me it will not go into relearn now, it did once but since then it has had a solid light..

Well, now a question. I added air for past years and TPMS light would go off. now it doesn't, My manufacture max tire air is 51psi, I have all tires at 41psi. The light is still ON. by doing this trick would it solve the issue if one or more sensors likely are not working???

Hi George. Its really a nice video. Thanks for that. But i have a question. i have nissan altima 2011. one of my sensors was broken while refilling the air in tire. i got a new sensor and fixed it in the tire. but still its showing the low tire pressure warning. whereas the tire/air pressure is fine in all the tires. can you please guide me how it can be fixed? Thanks

I have a 2012 Hyundai Elantra. This weekend I replaced all 4 Wheel TPMS sensors with new ones. I took more than half of the steering dash area panels out of the vehicle. I cannot find the pigtail (White Wire), I could not even find a Reset button. I NEED HELP!!! Any chance you could do a video on a specific 2012 Hyundai Elantra please????

Why do you lower the tire pressures below normal recommended and why does each one get lowered to a different PSI number?

The exclamation light is because the door is open. Will also occur if the car is almost out of gas. Thanks for the video though!

2009 Altima. Set all 4 tires to those pressures, grounded the sensor so the light was flashing, but when I drove the light never went to solid. I drove for 5-10 minutes mostly over 30 mph. When I turned the car off and back on again, then the light went solid. Drove back home and filled tires. After those drove around and the solid light still stays on. Did I do something wrong or do I have a bad sensor?

Good afternoon George! Just acquired 2010 Nissan Altima 3.5SR for my daughter. TPMS remains on solid. When grounding the lead from the white plug 6 times, no flashing on TPMS warning light. I am assuming the batteries in one or more sensors have discharged and no longer communicate. I guess the only thing to do is replace all four sensors and follow your procedure again? Now, if I purchase sensors, can I do the procedure before I install them and verify that this will work and then install the sensors? Any other suggestions? Thanks, Chuck

I didn't get this. Do you need to set a specific pressure on each tire so you can reset it? It will check for a specific calibration in order to reset or not?
