Nice video. I purchased a kit from Amazon to repair watches. I came but I was missing the hammer, and the device to assist in removing links in the watch band was broken. I do have the other tools, which will assist in the removal of pins. Thanks for the instructions, the kit also was missing any instructions for using the tools or helpful hints....

My mother gave me a hand me down one. I cannot get it past my hand. The band is too small. I noticed, on the latch, there looked to be some finite adjustments. Do you use the same technique there?
@RickMammana3 жыл бұрын
Yes you would use the same technique but to make it much bigger but you will need extra links.

I'd never resize one of mine that way. Like the post below, buy the kit made for it. Most kits come with a block that holds the bracelet in place and won't scratch it, hammer pins in different sizes and a SMALL hammer made to remove the pin for the links. So easy, cheap and safe. Invicta Titanium bracelets come with a pin & Barrel connection for the links. They are much harder to remove. If you buy a Titanium watch it's better to take it to a reputable jeweler. Most jewelers don't even want to touch them. Some can't do the job. Invicta charges incredible exorbitant rates to have them do the job. Love Invicta but don't care for their service when you need it. Long as your happy doing it that way good for you Rick. Take care.

The best tool is a Pushpin and your thumb pressure.. No hammer needed. No other tools needed. Please try a push pin before a hammer!
@garybaker4662 ай бұрын
Yea no. At least my particular piece of shit invicta watch. My Pushpin literally bends in half before it pushes the pin through.
@wadenye68955 жыл бұрын
I have had several of Invicta tungsten watches, they were great they never scratch and they keep good time. But the link pins disintegrate. This happens quickly if resized. We used this procedure it only lasts a few weeks.The watch falls apart on your hand. New pins are impossible to buy.
@CB500Xoo75 жыл бұрын
You’re right! I purchased an invicta 2 days ago and they resized it for me. This morning thankfully we noticed the loose pin. The pin just fell right out as I was holding the watch and it came apart. Had I been wearing it, it would of hit the ground. What am I supposed to do now, the pin goes in and out easily.

I don't normally use cheap watches- but got an Invicta for a beater- The pins come out FAR easier the opposite way. The pins INSTALL in the direction of the arrow, so remove them from the opposite direction. The pins push out FAR easier that way- I tried both with an actual pin pusher and could feel the difference easily. No hammer necessary, just a cheap pin pusher tool.

For future reference, most watches at this price range use friction pins in the bracelet links. A friction pin is basically a wire that is folded in half, and then inserted into the link pin hole. If you look at the link pin holes on one side of the bracelet, you'll see what looks like a slotted screw head that you would use a tiny screwdriver on. What you are looking at is where both ends of the folded wire (friction pin) come together. This is the FATTER end of the friction pin. When you look at the other side of this bracelet link pin hole, you'll see the ROUNDED end of the friction pin. This ROUNDED end, is the folded end of the wire (friction pin). The ROUNDED end of the friction pin is the NARROWER end of the pin. This ROUNDED end of the friction pin is the end you want to strike with your link pin punch (or friction pin punch). Striking the ROUNDED end of the friction pin with your punch, will drive the FATTER end (slotted end) of the pin, loose/free. SOMETIMES, you will tap your pin punch all the way into the bracelet link hole, and the friction pin will still not be loose enough to pull out with your fingers. When this happens, you will need to gently tug out the friction pin, in a straight manner, using needle nose pliers. This is not an ideal situation, because sometimes even a slightly bent friction pin cannot be reused :o( When putting the bracelet back together, reinsert the friction pin into the same side of the bracelet that the pin ejected from. Reinsert the pin, ROUNDED end (narrower end) FIRST. Hope this info is of some help.
@joetanner74797 жыл бұрын
Some watch bracelets will use a pin & sleeve, friction method. For instance, if you had a three link watch bracelet, the center link would house the friction sleeve. The two outer bracelet links have smaller diameter link pin holes, so that keeps the center link's friction sleeve, in place. When the friction pin is inserted into a link pin hole, the pin is actually only making friction contact with the sleeve (held in the center link of the bracelet). After removing a friction pin from a bracelet, OFTEN TIMES the tiny friction sleeve will fall out of the center link. DON'T LOSE THE FRICTION SLEEVE. Without the friction sleeve, full assembly of the bracelet is impossible. AND, it is highly unlikely you could find the right size replacement friction sleeve at a jewelry shop. Without the friction sleeve, the friction pin will fit as snug in the bracelet, as a baseball is through a basketball hoop :o/
@joetanner74797 жыл бұрын
If you don't at least have a Link Pin Punch, just pay a jeweler to size your watch bracelet. Without the proper tools, you're going to just scratch the crud out of your brand new watch :o/

WHAT? There is a bracelet pin remover tool that you MUST use to service your precious timepiece! Please -DO NOT- ever use a hammer to impact a delicate watch. You can purchase this tool for about ten dollars. It gently pushes the pins out.
