The Lost Gardens of Chateau de Rosieres

We bought a 230 year old Alpine Chalet, dismantled it, and rebuilt it in ONE DAY. Today we make our new garden folly water-tight and answer some of our followers questions!
We live in a medieval castle with a huge, derelict estate in southern France. Follow our ambitious garden projects, from vineyards to formal gardens, tropical plants to self-sustainability. Our project is enormous and our enthusiasm contagious. We'd love you to join us.

Can not blame marc not putting a different door on the chalet for covinience because it just would spoil the intergrity of the historical building 😊😊❤❤ 😊

Please everyone subscribe so this lovely family will continue these amazing videos. The garden shed is beautiful including that very special head ducking door. I watch Martijn Doolard who is restoring two stone cottages (with low doors) in the Italian Alps. He replaced the large slab stone roof with a new one from the stone on his land. It looks like the roof you were talking about Marc. He too, is doing everything to preserve the old. ❤️❤️❤️

As you were talking about the floor, I was thinking of the possibility & difficulty of digging out the center for a lower floor, while leaving & adding to the granite support (those gaps). This way would create granite ledges for storage. Possibly a gravity fed sink for cleaning the tools? Another idea would be to build a roof over cover like she had at her previous residence, like a carport or Porte cochere? It could even have 3 sides in order to protect her from harsh wind & weather! Because she is an older lady in the twilight of her life & helping to protect her remaining beauty would most likely be advantageous! This building really is beautiful❤!!!

In New England Cedar shingles are a common siding material. White Cedar shingles will last 40 + years. Shakes for roofs are also a special process for roofing. The TV show This Old House is the best for this type of questions. Very professional.

I love this little house. I can perfectly understand why Marc wanted one. It is perfect as a garden shed. And it is wonderful that it despite its age still can be used, and not left as a museum artifact. And how amazing that you have bought another one for the family ❤ Good decicion! 👏 In Sweden where I´m originally from, we have a lot of these old houses in the countryside. I love them. And watching them now on the video, I can almost smell them. They have this very special smell of old warm wooden house. Congrats to the 2 new chateau additions ❤

The second storey is perfect for storing less used tools and equipment. This is what we do at home. My garden tools are in the garage and we are lucky enough to have a boarded ‘loft’ which we use for spares, bean net, fleece etc. Far better than the kitchen. Poor Amy!
