Planning on doing the same, but I may spray the rusted cast iron with a clear coat since I like the rustic look. However, having a hard time finding decent cedar at the local Home Depot and Lowes...mostly warped, undersized garbage. I may just grab a couple of 4x4's and a 4x6 and mill my own slats down to size. Nice little project you had there.

That bit where you reach over the timber to grab it after its been cut . Can you like turn it off first or use a gadget to grab it from way past the blade !

i've got a bench identical to those i picked up at Big Lots about 15 yrs ago, mine is in much worse shape but someday i'll rebuild it.

no primer for the paint?

I have just restored an identical bench and the two ends are exactly the same as yours. I also painted the ironwork blue as that is the colour the customer asked for. PLEASE!!! replace the screws you used on the back to connect it to the two bench ends. Screws will not hold the back securely enough and the whole bench is likely to sway either left or right and eventually collapse. Nice job though to be honest just make sure you change those screws for proper BOLTS ok.

Lower that table saw blade to height of wood or they’ll be rebuilding your hand! I’ve done this but doing an epoxy coat next time

For someone with all that gear its pretty poor. What about the stretcher. The fixing are terrible, the bench will go sideways and collapse. Half a job.

Should of built a blue plastic bench !! You had a natural cast iron bench and painted the metal !!!! “ Tasteless “ ASLO YOU HAVE A GAP IN THE WOOD ON THE UPPER RIGHT SIDE OF THE BACK REST OF THE BENCH !!
