I had two benches that have been sitting around for a few years, getting uglier by the day, and for some reason not fixing themselves. So I decided to tackle them both and give them many more years of life, while making a great show piece, but not spending a ton of money to do it. I share a bunch of little tips to hopefully help make your project turn out awesome!
Help support the channel and the things I can show by using the links below, it costs nothing to use them, but helps me out so I can help you!

What can I say that has not been said already? Technically spot on , every step explained in an easy to follow way , the viewer is neither overwhelmed with technical stuff or talked down to as though they were an idiot. You do it in a relaxed way , which makes the viewer relax in turn , which is essential if you want the information to sink in , and no superfluous chit chat. For me personally though, it might have been better if you could have talked just a tiny bit slower, but perhaps that’s because I’m English

This was too good, from start to finish. I don;t want to fix my bench even though the front piece broke in the center but seeing it all done and how great it looks has given me inspiration Thanks!!

I just bought one bench that is only the sides, and a complete unit that needs restoration. You made it look doable, thank you, and I will get mine done. Mine are going around the fire pit as well.

Man that's awesome! It's totally doable, big time investment repeating a lot of the same steps lol but not that hard. They make great additions to the fire pit. Well good luck on yours and keep me posted! Emailed some pics when you're done, I'd love to see them and share them with everybody

the adhesion promoter is only for polyolefin surfaces. things like car bumpers, interior parts etc. Not for metal per the manufacturer. Exterior paint does not need a clear coat. Just get the finish you want satin, etc.

Hello Jesse from Vancouver, where abouts are you? I to did a bench last summer with 5/4 stock and man is that bench solid. You benches look great and you explained everything in enough detail so we can understand well done. I do have a question, with the temp saw horse table you used to paint on why didnt you use the table when sawing and save your back lol. I have to add I have never seen someone on youtube restoring a bench and so much time on prep before painting nice touch. Subscribed and looking forward to watching more vids. Take Care

Hey! I'm in Regina, Sk. Oh it's way more solid than 3/4" material, good choice. Thanks, I'm glad you liked them! I could have used it for sawing on I supposed, but at the time I only had one plug in on the outside of my house that worked, and I didn't have much room for the table over there, or a high enough guage extension cord for he saw lol. Prep is everything when it comes to finishing, especially with rattle can paint! I wanted to get it across that you can get a great finish, and long life out of it if you rake the time to do it properly. And after 2 years of use and Sask winters outside, it still looks great! Thanks for subbing, welcome to the crew! Hope to see you in more comments

As long as you have some kind of reference or idea for how wide or thick they need to be you can start fresh and make any updates you want

I said the thickness of the boards like 30 seconds later, 3/4" and 1" thick, and the widths were ripped to the same as what the benches already used
