My top ways of performing Tapah: -waking up at 5am every day -prioritising spiritual events (collective meditation, seminars) in my schedule -cleaning my house and body regularly and thoroughly We should also remember to only do Tapah for good purposes. Making a sacrifice for your boss or for for some selfish motivation is useless. Rather we should remember our ideology and give our best to follow it.

I feel Tapah can also be very well applied within our emotions. Having the strength to stay with whatever uncomfortable feeling there is, instead of running after the innumerable distractions of this world (overeating, overworking,...). Allowing the feeling to be there without judgement, feeling it deeply in the body, breathing into it and finally letting go. That is just so new, so revolutionary to me...🙏🏼

What helps me alot is physical training (calisthenics) and lots of mountain hiking. When climbing mountains you need a lot of endurance and also will power. You go on for hours and hours, sweating, sometimes cursing while physically exhausting yourself. It would be so easy to sit down or just quit, but you keep going until you eventually reach the summit. And that feeling is just overwhelming, having reached your goal and enjoying the breathtaking landscape. Something you've achieved on your own and that nobody can take away from you. It makes me feel so excited and inspired that it keeps me going for days and weeks and it brings a smile ot my face everytime I think about those moments.

Thank you Dada for an amazing lecture. Cold showers, pranayama, fasting & abstaining from different foods for a period, not indulging in anger and uncontrollable reactions, intense exercise and letting go of habits that do not serve us have all been wonderfully helpful tapas for me. I feel that the ones I find the most difficult - in my case often fasting though not always- is what I need the most or what is going to strengthen me the most

I now have that struggle a bit as I started living in the house of someone who is a lot like this 'vegetable' you describe, and I feel this energy has a dulling effect, which I don't like. I feel this is a challenge for me to in these circumstances with people who are in that sense different than I am, to stay put with my practice even stronger, and not allow that dulling energy to have an influence on me. Remembering my first lesson and second lesson (more than those I didn't have yet), helps me a lot in maintaining the willpower.

Dada, I'm 32 years old male, with no major health issues other than mild ulcer. my work is such that i meet atleast 200 people a day, to serve them, I'm a branch manger at a bank. We have very less human resources at our branch to serve huge number of customer service. My bosses give hectic targets to achieve each day. So may customer complains, hurts our feelings, for delayed service. Bosses are ruthless, in words and actions. Even though I work 12 hours it's not enough to fulfill my target or give customer satisfaction. I have to attend atleast 75 phone calls a day, 2 meetings and speak with minimum 100 customers. Most of the times out of that 12 hours (atleast 10) I'm under constant pressure and criticism even though I put my soul to the work. At times I feel like I'm out of breath, my chest collapse so that I can't even sit straight, my chest feels like there is no energy even to utter a single word... Can u give me any yogic solution to this please, because I don't want to quit my job

see, our goals are very different. I want to awaken myself first and then maybe few more people if I'm lucky. . I do not concern myself with numbers. quantity means nothing to me. I am a realist, not an utopist. I'm concerned about where the truth is and not if 7 bil. people can get it. because frankly, they can't. not because they have no capacity, simply because they don't want it at this stage in their development. they are too invested in their suffering. and I accept that. you can not force the evolution. all you can do is to evolve yourself and seek and guide those few who are ready. at least this is my way.

now comes the part of how. how to practice Tapah? through Satya. more specifically through the integrity part of Satya. my word is my bond. if I say I will do something, I will do it no matter what, given that it is not harming anybody including myself. Tapah Sadhana designed by me has 3 stages: easy, moderate, and difficult. if you fail at any given time, you come to the beginning and start again. so even though it is designed for 3 weeks, it can take 3 months or longer to come through. Tapah is really a threshhold that is not easy to go through. and it is good so. because the spiritual path of raja Yoga is not for the weak.
@henrimoll96212 жыл бұрын
Tapas is not necessarily a part of raja yoga only. It has his place in every path in spirituality.

Tapah is about inner heat and intensity and resilience. some amount of withstanding physical discomfort is included. yes, but it is not the main quality. and Tapah is very little close to none concerning others. Tapah is not for masochists, the pain and discomfort are not the points. inner heat and intensity make one go through physical discomfort easily. Tapah is not the penance.! it has nothing to do with penance!. you say this "competition" is powerful, I say it is stupid. Tapah is not to prove something or win a prize. it is about increasing your inner involvement to a higher level. original runner ren from Marathon to Athens I think and he shouted Nike, which means victory, and then he died. this is correct, pushing your personal limits is very much Tapah. I don't know about spiritual energy, I see energy just as energy, but what you get is different ways your body chemically functions, it will summon reserves, it will turn into a different metabolical gear and its efficiency will be maximized. Tapah is also about the inner discipline, interconnected with Satya in a way that if you say you do something it is your bond. you have to do it. I have to do one correction of my own because i just saw my opening line on willpower and there is an error. instead of Muladhara, I meant Manipura Charka, sorry. ok, let's continue. warning!!! never do fasting without taking a lot of water. Yogis drink more water when they fast than when they don't and for good reasons. no food, good. no water, bad. it is as simple as that. I will not go into why's because there are just too many. let me tell you how Patanjali introduced Tapah to his students. he would bring them in front of a large basket of cold water and said: do you trust me? if the answer was yes, he would force the head of the student into that basket and hold it there just short of the point of drowning. then he would let go. then he would ask: what did you need so badly trying to get your head up? the answer was very obvious: oxygen. I needed to breathe. then he would say the same intensity, the same live or die effort you need to bring to your Sadhana. every cell in your body needs to be totally involved. this is Tapah. if you can bring your total effort to your spiritual practice, you can stay and learn. if not, there is no place for you here.
@000DAAN0002 жыл бұрын
I disagree on needing water while fasting, a water fast is equally possible as a dry fast, both with similar benefits. Check out Dr. Filonov on dry fasting
@borisnahalka30272 жыл бұрын
@@000DAAN000 yeah, maybe next time you might want to try oxygen fast. fasting is primarily about cleaning your body. there is no better assistance to this process than water. but, be my guest and do what you think is right for you.

will power is property of Muladhara chakra when it is about worldly power and the Vishudhi chakra when concerning mental and occult powers. each chakra has its own power, but as far as willpower goes, these two are dominant. DAda is not very established in Svadyaya, otherwise, he would not say such nonsense like a physical heart is on the left side. it is in the middle of your chest cavity tilted ever so slightly to the left. Anahata chakra is not a border it is a meeting point. and that is a big difference. with Anahatha all borders are beginning to vanish. if you open your Anahatha you are one with the Earth. there are no borders. you don't know where you finish and where another part of Earth begins. you are one with nature. it is the first glimpse of Unity. . you have the first taste of Yoga. soul? what are you actually talking about? sounds like anandamayakosha to me. because the Ultimate has no attributes, no qualities, it is beyond any descriptions. why is it important to know what are you talking about? because so many seekers got stuck in anandamayakosha. they thought it is the ultimate. it is not. it is a dream. beautiful one, but the dream never the less. i like the sheep in the background. they are very much like you. full stomach good, empty stomach bad. your ideas of good and bad are maybe different, but the duality is the same. Satya has nothing to do with any kind of belief. in fact, the belief no matter how noble it might seem is poison to a real seeker. belief means door closed. set. you will not get anywhere with belief. trust is another matter. more trust you have less belief you need. Satya is not benevolent, Satya can be cruel, and uncomfortable, and still not against Ahimsa. Satya is about integrity, authenticity, and seeing things for what they are without blindfolds. trying to be kind outward when you are boiling with anger inside is a lie. your view on Satya is fundamentally false. i will comment on Tapah later.
@DaCrazyJalapeno2 жыл бұрын
Namaskar Boris, I won't pretend to know more than I do but... The ultimate reality; brahma, is the real truth no? The world we live in is a world of illusions. What is brahma? Brahma is love, bliss, unity, truth. In order for you to speak what is really truthful (not illusory, a façade, false) than it must also be something that is benevolent if the truth is brahma (love, bliss, unity, truth). If you are boiling with anger on the inside, there is work to be done, because your true self is always blissful, always loving, always kind. If you can truly see what is, without blindfolds, you will see nothing but love & unity, not an illusion of wrongdoing, this is Satya... *truth* !! Warm Regards
@borisnahalka30272 жыл бұрын
@@DaCrazyJalapeno you say Brahma is this or that. how do you know? did you read or hear things about Brahma? you might believe what Brahma is, but you don't know. so please don't talk about something you don't know. Brahma is a concept for you and for everybody else unless you are one with Brahma, or whatever name you want to call it. you also seem to think to know what Satya is: sorry, but you don't. start with authenticity and integrity and stop bullshiting yourself. if there is love, great, say there is love. if there is hate, what can you do? say, there is hate. if there is wrongdoing, falsehood, illusion..., you need to say what is it is. if there is anger, sadness, laziness, aversion... you need to admit it. you need to see it and admit it! that is being authentic. don't go throwing words like your true self around, start with what you know, what can you see outside and inside, and start from there. namaskar.
