I’m going to say it. Mini twists only seem to look good on those with thick hair. If you have medium density and fine strands then all you see is scalp.

I've been wearing braids for 9 years straight. When I take them down, I put them right back. I started with a pixie cut, my hair is now down my back. One thing that I have slipped on over the years is moisturizing my hair. Now I'm in the process of developing a good moisturizing regimen using rose water, conditioner and essential oils. I've been wearing mini twists for about 8 months now and my hair has never been healthier, shinier, retained so much length or experienced less breakage. But the secret is going no shampoo no products. I saturate my hair daily with cold water and retwist a few times a week to not only avoid matting but to spread the natural oils produced by my scalp down the length of my hair. GreenBeauty has a wonderful video about full sebum coverage. I don't use any products or put any oils yet my hair has never held moisture better. Cold water keeps your hair shaft sealed and elimates frizz.
