I used to think every investor went broke during recessions, meanwhile some make millions. I also thought everybody went out of business during the Great Depression, but some went into business. Bottom line, there's always depression for some, and profit for others, it all starts from having the right mindset. That said, I've set asides $250k to invest for future, unfortunately l'm a complete noob.

True, A lot of folks downplay the role of professionals until being burnt by their own emotions. I remember couple summers back, after my lengthy divorce, I needed a good boost to help my business stay afloat, hence I researched for license advisors and came across someone of due diligence, helped a lot to grow my reserve notwithstanding inflation, from $275k to approx. $850k so far.

40 now, and everything is paid for. Fortunately, I had a college economics teacher who taught me a lesson when I was 18 years old. That lesson was: you can't buy something else for every purchase you make. Having multiple sources of income is prudent, as is living within your means. I have a 13-year-old vehicle because it is all I need, I like it, and I can do whatever I want with it. My net worth is $4 million, and I can pay my bills without stress, but I don't live like I have that. I have no complaints.

I fully agree, I'm 56 years old and recently retired with approximately 1.2 million in outside retirement funds, no debt, and very few dollars in retirement funds in comparison to my portfolio balance over the last three years. To be honest, the financial advisor's role can only be ignored, not dismissed. Therefore do your research to get a reputable one and that should be any individuals main route into the market.

I’m compiling and picking stocks that I’d love to hold on to for a few years before retirement, do you think these stocks would do better over the years? I’d love to retire with at least $2million savings. Now you gotta rely on a pretty good diversification if you must stay green. Currently up 31% and being cautious. Still better deal than letting it sit in savings or checking earning near 5% interest

I don't necessarily want to retire "early". I just want to be in a place where I CAN retire early if I want to. By the time I'm in my 50's I'd like to be at a place where I can just walk off the job if I get fed up enough. I'm 26 with about 200k in investments already. I invest around 1/3 of my gross income. With average returns I should have a few million by then which should be plenty. My biggest concern is maintaining health insurance until Medicare kicks in at 62 (United States).

You are very correct. As a generation Z member, my main purpose for now is achieving financial security.Once I reach financial security I will start thinking about financial freedom. But for now, it is prioritized enough for me to consider thinking about financial freedom as a waste of time. Besides I find the concept of financial freedom very confusing. You can have enough money to live unemployed. But it doesn't make sense to be a millionaire and live like an employee with 3500$ per month salary. That's why I think financial freedom costs 115.2M $. Cuz one month in a resort in Maldives costs 5K $ to 15K $ and that's only booking in a resort and food and tours in Maldives. Take the highest price 15K and double it cuz you will need money for health care and buying electronics and so on. It becomes 30K per month per person. For a family of 4, father mother and 2 kids it is 120 K per month which is 115.2M per 80 years. This doesn't mean to immigrate to Maldives but someone with such wealth can live like a tourist in a resort in Maldives anywhere in the world and in every condition or crisis which means highly secure form of financial freedom

It is possible to not work guys. I am doing it and im the proof. I rented a storage unit for $50 a month. I live there and also rent out 50% of it for $50 a month. I essentially mastered this housing hack. How would you like all of your meals paid for? Sounds nice. Well the trick is to be either a early riser or a night owl. Mcdonalds throws out most of their unsold burgers late at night. You also have early morning until the garbage truck comes and cleans out the dumpster. I find that this hack works better in winter when the burgers arent rotting in trash bags under the sun. Hope this helps.

Mark, your video is a breath of fresh air! It's like you've taken the foggy, intimidating world of retirement planning and turned it into a clear, navigable roadmap. I've always believed that the key to financial freedom lies in understanding the numbers and making them work for you. Your Rule of 300 is a perfect example of this. It's a simple, yet powerful tool that anyone can use to get a realistic picture of their retirement needs. Your point about the school system leaving us in the dark resonates deeply with me. I remember feeling lost and overwhelmed when I first started planning for my financial future. It's a shame that we aren't taught these crucial skills in school. But thanks to people like you, we can educate ourselves and take control of our financial destinies. I also appreciate your balanced approach to debt. It's a tricky subject that often polarises people. But you've hit the nail on the head - it's not about avoiding debt entirely, but about understanding how to use it strategically. Your story about increasing your income by demonstrating your value to your boss is inspiring. It's a great reminder that we all have unique skills and talents that can make us valuable to others. Finally, your alternative views on retirement are thought-provoking. The idea of micro-retirements and lifelong retirement are appealing alternatives to the traditional retirement model. It's about creating a life that you don't need to retire from, isn't it? Thanks for sharing your wisdom, Mark. Your videos are always enlightening and empowering. Keep up the great work!

Hi Mark, Great video; the fact that you enjoy making these videos is reflected on how useful they are! One question; I’m on the investment stage and have looked into the S&P 500. Most investment platforms have dozens of entries when you search for it - is there a specific name one should search for to home in on the right fund? Or would you recommend opening an ISA first and paying into that initially? Cheers! 😁

The 300 rule works but doesn't take into account inflation. The number will go up every year, don't forget.

This is the fourth video I've watched of yours so far and it really makes me reconsider my self worth, I'm in my late twenties and I haven't a lot to show for it but I know I've accumulated skills and knowledge over time and I haven't been using what I've learned to my advantage. Already I'm starting to rethink my life choices that have led me to this stage of life and how I can turn it around without slaving away (12 hour shifts, 6 days a week) in some job I don't have any passion for whatsoever. The process to success isn't rocket science as I've been led to believe, dream jobs do exist you just need to make the effort to market yourself. Really appreciate the advice thus far, what you're doing is an inspiration and quite similar to how I'd like to help others in the future as well.

Hi, the first step to financial freedom is realising the mistakes we make , the second step is to learn and the third is to take action. Unfortunately many fall over at the third. Please 🙏 push on and lift yourself up, think long term 10+ years, I know it’s hard but in the long run it makes life so much easier. Thanks for watching, I will keep posting videos to help. MT 😎

Stupid Question on the rule of 300 and expenses, if you intend to pay off your biggest expenses (mortgage) before you retire, do you still include it in the calculation, I would assume not?

I might be wrong here and would love for anyone more knowledgeable to correct me but if you manage to pay off your biggest expense, then that just means that you will have more to save. I think the calculation still stands because 300 months equates to 25 years and that is the general rule that most of these financial channels will advise. I think they all say 300 months/25 years and to only withdraw 4% annually so that you don't actually use up all your money within 25 years, because you don't wanna run out of money once you've retired and because of increased life expectancies these days, people are retiring younger and might need more money because they may be retired for longer than 25 years
