I bought one a year ago. It was doing fine, but then started to die back. I d decide to wash away all the soil and put it in water. It’s doing much better now. It pretty much lives in the water now. I tried some Miracle Grow, but that just turned the water green and produced a lot of algie.

Just a small footnote, because of monoculturing they seem to not be as hardy as they used to be before that method of tissue culturing or cut propogations, over the years I have bought these plants each year, and recently have noticed that most plants dont make it a year, I am very particular when it comes to plant care. I also suspect they are dropping some kind of bloomer fertilize at local stores, which makes them really lush green up front, but makes them falter quicker from overgrowth. -> I have found that my plants do best with slow release fertilizers, and using magnesium supplementations make the plants boost in growth, I do believe most potting soils lack magnesium and even most far,m lands. PS> I have used soil from forest floor around areas where tree leaves have broken down over the years, making a loomy soil, really works very well, which is like your acid your adding I imagine. I have a few friends who have fish tanks, they use the water from those fresh water tanks and filter with UV light to water plants with, they also have great success in growing these plants. However I have had a deal where I lost about half my plants the last year do to some disease causing ROT from the top down. I was wondering if you have ever seen that issue, where the roots look healthy but the top turns to mush. I am suprised because I cant find many sources for issues about this but I did come by an article that said Hosta viruses and some tomatoe virus stems turned very similiar do to not sterile mediums of cloning. I don't clone my plants, or anything of the likes, but I did buy those particular ones from the same place, and had repotted them all in different areas, so I had cleaned those plants very well. I guess my question is what caused them to die, I am in process of trying to save a few of them I actually removed the tops and removed the stems from the soil, and took the rooted bottoms to a new location and repotted, now the plant is reviving and growing new leaves, but I am very frustrated because I am not sure will this problem return over and over or is it something else? I always bleach my cutters, and dry before I cut, and never trade cuttings from pot to pot, mainly I am concerned if it is a virus should I just destroy those plants and pots, I do not want this spreading, but I had about 8 different pots develop this condition, within a 3 month period, my first thought was maybe some kind of bugs, but nothing around soil, soil is not wet as I dont drown my plants in water. Also since I fertilize all my plants the same way I ruled out that as the issue, since my other 30 are fine. I would appreciate any suggestions, also is it true that cuttings should be placed in water, or should I direct pot them to root? I was considering cutting my older plants to replace the newer ones that are dying, though will not reuse the same soil or planters. Appreciate your videos. :) Thanks.

I believe mine recently suffered a sunburn 🥺 I put her on the balcony when it was really nice out recently--which she used to love She's losing two bottom leaves now while pushing out a new leaf Two or three other leaves have burn spots🥺

I bought my dieffenbachia from a nursery. A couple days after it came home, the leaves started turning yellow. It’s been a couple of weeks now and it’s still turning yellow. Wilted. Soft leaves. And now, brown spots. I watered it heavily the first time, thought I overwatered it so I repotted it. Didn’t work. So I moved it closer to bright indirect light. Still didn’t work. So I moved it outside where it’s really humid thinking it needed it. Still didn’t work. I just repotted it, the roots look completely fine! But the young leaves keep yellowing. When I cut them off, the stems turn mushy and fall off. I pruned it. Cut off the brown spots and moved it back inside. It’s growing and looks healthy but the leaves just keep yellowing.

Hi - repotted my dumb came today. It was healthy before repotting. I watered afterwards and now the soil feels too wet. I feel like she is sitting in water. I used a repotting mix with some perlite for drainage. Pls help.. do I need to do anything to prevent possible root rot? Thanks

I have one that I've had for over a year, it was a gift to me. it's about a 1.5 ft tall. Lately it cannot stand up on it's own, I have it propped up on a shelf. Is there a certain type of pot I should transplant it to? Or should I I propagate it?

Hi. Thank you for this information. My dieffenbachia canes look like they are the Leaning Tower of Pisa a little, so I think re-potting is in order? Yellowing leaves (just cut 5 off her), but BLOOMING...strange. Healthy but not so much. I need to do some heavy pruning to get it more compact, but I don't want to shock it. Any advice? Thank you.

So my dumbcane has gotten really tall and she collapsed over. The soil is moldy looking and the leaves are dying. I think she's gone. :(

I have another question I bought a begonia a double flowered one on clearance and I need some help to revive it it was sitting in the sun and the leaves are brown on the edges but down towards the bottom it looks green I don’t know whether I should cut it back hard to the green let it go and see if it will grow a little bit before I cut it back or what I should do. Something is happening with my dieffenbachia, the stem and leaves are slowly turning yellow and the leaves that are growing are growing towards the ground (they start to grow out and then curve towards the soil). What could be going on??? I have tried to water it and then cut back so I am not sure what is happening with my poor plant

how much light is recommended for these plants? The one i have is about 2-3 feet tall so if it was next to my windows it wouldnt get any light bc the windowsills would be too high. instead i have it around 5-6 feet away from the window next to my desk so it gets a little bit of indirect light some times... it's starting to die off and i wanna try to save it since its one of my favorite plants :(
