I've been wanting to start this series for some time.
Have you considered the fact that as you get older and get towards retirement that you might, once you get there be unable to enjoy your planned rides as often as you dream to do. This isn't a rare occurrence, because as much as we plan financially by investing well in to our retirement funds, we often don't invest in our own physical and mental well being.
This is part 1, just a quick introduction of what will become a constant flow of information on what we're doing to ensure we can keep riding our motorbikes long in to retirement. We live in a world of confusing and often misleading information when it comes to food, diet, exercise and health advice. So what we've decided to do is share our experience and show the ongoing results of what we're doing to make sure we give ourselves every chance of being able to comfortably stay in the saddle for multiple days and also stay ride fit for decades to come.
Make sure you subscribe to ensure you don't miss out on future uploads of what we hope will be inspiring to all.

I'm one of those few that are younger who watch your channel - 23. I started riding a few years ago and have just brought an Adv bike. I find it to be more of a comfortable challenge coming from a naked sport bike. Granted I haven't ridden the fast bikes you're talking about but have had a few "oh shit" moments. I've really noticed the trend in age with guys and girls who are into Adv riding - you guys, MotoTrek, ARiemann, and a few others. I find that people who are a little older have a wealth of knowledge to share and are typically keen to pass it on. Thank you for doing exactly that. I'll keep an eye out for the rest of this series. I know I'm a few years off, but I think it's a great idea to be thinking of riding in retirement when you're younger. 👍

Great topic, Mate! I am the same age as you, so I am looking forward to this series of posts. For me, I am still suffering from what I call "Pandemic Jet Lag" - lock downs were really tough on me, mentally and on my fitness and eating habits. I am finally just starting to get myself sorted, but at 56, divorced and a lone wolf, it's been a struggle. And you are 100% right - my dream is to at least partially retire soon and ride a lot more, but if I don't get my mental and physical health on track, the last thing I feel up for is a challenging ADV ride. Thanks for covering this!

I just stumbled onto your channel. I live in the western USA. I retired early in 2018 at 62 years old because my career had finally burned me out. In Dec 2021, I had a heart attack, came out of it ok, and did physical therapy for 4 months. In July of last year, at 66 years old, I knew that life was way too short and it was time to fulfill a dream I had since I was 15 years old. I took off on my 2005 Harley Fatboy, spent 9 weeks on the road loan-wolfing it, and rode 11,000 miles through 26 states and 2 Canadian provinces. It was a dream of a lifetime come true that I will always cherish, and the first time I have ever felt truly free. I am thinking about my next long-distance trip. Do it while you can mates.

Hi your vid just randomly came up on my feed but what you said really hit home , I’m 52 and last 8 months has been pretty hard having a full thumb reconstruction in March finally got back to work in may then hurt my back 2 weeks ago now sitting back at home after getting a steroid injection to lower spine . I still have my 2005 Hayabusa and agree the policing has taken the enjoyment out of riding so have just picked up a 2023 Tenere 700 and looking forward to getting the fun back in riding will be following your future post with interest

All right, all right stop having a go at me! 😉😂🤣🤣 Didn't know I was that much older than you. I can tell you that you are bang on with this video as I've not done the best for myself health wise, and yes I know you gave me a lot of direction but sometimes I'm a bit lazy and life seems to get in the way. Now riding in my sixties I have noticed that I have issues with leg pain when riding for more that 8 or 9 hours which even a couple of years ago was non existent. Over the last year or two my favorite magazine (Real Classic) has had many letters and the odd story of how older riders have been able to keep riding and it seems the majority start to struggle with the sheer mass of a big bike so consequently moving to something smaller, lighter and in quite a few cases more moderner helps keep them in the saddle. I will be watching for more of these with interest Neil. BTW Demographic of mine is also only 2-3% females. I just put it down to me being so ugly!🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣All the best and ride safe and happy.

Gary, what you’re saying here is the exact reason we’re doing this. Thank you for commenting. As you know Chantal is an absolute knowledge on quite a lot of what we’re going to be doing and sharing 🙂 … we understand too that always doing the supposed right thing isn’t easy, but we hope to show that it’s easier than people think, and that it’s never too late to make an adjustment or two to keep heading in the right direction 🙂👍🏼 CHEERS MATE

I am 70 years old and I've been riding motorcycles since I was 14 years old and I rode bikes for over 40 years my caution to anybody that rides a motorcycle is always wear a helmet and protective gear and boots and eye protection make certain you are one hundred percent sober and always remember they are not toys and you can be killed or worst paralyzed for going to the store a ride in your neighborhood racially Treat Williams a learned that lesson the hard way be safe have your Affairs in order when you ride
