The New York City Ferry is a pretty chill way to get around New York City. It provides transportation mainly along the East River connecting Brooklyn, Queens, Manhattan, and the Bronx. It has a route to Staten Island, Governors Island, Roosevelt Island, Rockaway Beach, and soon to come Coney Island. Riding it is not intimidating at all. This video will talk about everything you need to know on how to navigate, buy tickets, and other useful things when riding the NYC Ferry.

@@John_DaMan Hey there. Yeah, I do the videos myself. I use Photoshop and Illustrator to make the graphics, then Premiere to put it altogether.

I highly recommend a ride on the NYC ferry. We visited Roosevelt Island and then took the ferry to Wall Street. The view of the skyline was breathtaking

I rode the Staten Island railroad, the ferry, and the subway for years. The ferry is painfully slow. I had a nearly two hour trip from the south shore of SI to midtown.

I was pleased to come across your video of about the NYC Ferry on the East River. I was fortunate to be able to assist the City in the planning and early design of the expansion of ferry service on the East River several years ago, and before that I was able to assist with several projects associated with the Staten Island Ferry. Very nice to see some of the fruits of my labor. You did a great job explaining how to use ferry service on the East River, which is much more complex for the user to navigate compared to many ferry services with only two or three terminals. Luckily, New Yorkers are already used to a complex subway system, so the multi-terminal East River ferry service is a piece of cake.

Hello Thea and happy winter from here in Sydney Australia. Wish I was over there enjopying your NYC summer. Great video about the ferries - With the exception of the Staten Island ferry I've not rode any of the other commuter ferries on my previous NYC trips - this video has inspired me to do so when I hopefully next visit in 2023. Also, I think it's great the ferry fare over there is the same flat $2.75 as is the case for the subway and the buses. Over here our Sydney harbour ferries are hugely expensive when compared to our bus and train network. You guys rock !! PS - Well done on reaching 10K subscribers ... onwards to 20K !!!

Thanks! I used to take the ferry to work everyday pre-pandemic. It was such a chill commute. There was this guy I saw every morning who always brought along a bowl of cereal during the commute. By the time he got to his stop, he would be done with breakfast.

Thanks! Yup, during non-busy times you can cruise the East River roundtrip using the same ticket. Once you get to a terminal, you can get off then get board the same ferry because it will be going back.

Hi! Thanks for the comment. LIC is a great place to stay since it has several subway lines making different parts of Manhattan accessible. As for the ferry, I always recommend it. I feel it's cleaner and safer than the subway.

I love, love, LOVE the ferry! I live on East End Avenue so the subway isn’t very convenient- I take the ferry whenever I can. I especially appreciate that dogs are allowed on the ferry.

I saw the ferry going by when I was hanging out at South Street Seaport last year. I was surprised how many boats were running on a weekend. Definitely an alternative. BTW - plug for her on Patreon. She’s one of the few YT’ers I kick a few bucks to a month. She does quality work (like this ferry video) and has already given me some ideas about places to explore in the city.

I'm hearing about upcoming fare changes for nyc ferry on the news. Raising it to $4 one way trip. $1.35 senior/disabled. 10 trip $27.50. September 1

I'm pretty sure it's year round. But in the summer, Rockaway ferry is modified to accommodate more riders.

@@broyofroyo1207 Right now you can buy the OMNY card at select convenience stores. I got mine at a 7-Eleven, but I think Duane Reade has them now. They'll be among the gift card section and you load them with the cashier (just like a gift card). But after that, you can reload online. You can find locations here: omny.info/retail-locations

To get a scenic view, I would recommend taking Astoria. Rockaway is if you want to go to the beach.

We are a family of 6. Can I buy the a 10 pass and two single passes for round trip to save money? We are traveling from midtown to wall street to fo under the bridges and then to dumbo to explore. Then back to midtown much later.

"Coney Island route was announced to be introduced in Summer of 2022" Yeah, about that... But I do still hope the service comes to fruition in one way or another in the near future, just get a solution all the environmentalists, staff, and townsfolk can agree on
