In this episode I go over in detail how to properly rig a Sabiki RIg and give some on the water demonstrations to show how effective it can be to catch live bait such as pilchards, cigar minnows and sardines. Also included, is how to correctly unhook your bait so they will stay alive. Ever wanted to know how to catch live bait for some great offshore fishing? Is your live bait survival rate down because of unknown reasons? If you ever asked yourself these questions, or want to learn about this effective trick of the trade... This episode's for you.
Enjoy,
Tight lines & good vibes.

Great video Heath. I forgot about catching bait on the south side so thanks for the reminder. I see boats around the Deerfield pier around sunrise. Are they catching goggle eyes? Great content once again. Ive shared ur channel with several people to help you grow!!

Thanks a million for watching and sharing the channel. I truly appreciate your support and you always being here... makes all the effort a worthwhile pleasure. the bait is usually on either side of the jetties. Those folks by the pier... they're probably going after gogs, but that's not a year round thing. Gogs hang out over the deep edge of the reef at night. During the summer months they come in shallow and hide under the piers. unfortunately, live bait is always a fast moving migration, one day here, and maybe the next day, then poof, you gotta go on the hunt again. Thanks again for everything, hopefully this weather gives us a break soon. Until then... Tight lines & take care ;)

Hi Heath, again a very instructive video, do you already thought of making a video explaining how to install the live bait on the hook ? Best way to do it and not kill it or make it suffer if not needed ? Keep up the great work!

Thanks a million for watching and asking a great question. I have a couple of older episodes where I catch and fish with live bait, but nothing truly dedicated to what you are asking. Soon, I will be making an episode dedicated to that, catching, how to hook it and keep it alive, and how to produce a nice catch with it. Thanks again for your support of the channel. Hi Mickey, thanks for watching and always sharing some insight and knowledge. So, I used to own a bait shop and I was one of 2 land based shops in the local area that sold live bait (other than shrimp). When I would go fishing for the bait, I would shorten the sabiki by one hook to start out with, and eventually I would lose hooks to blue runners or something and they would dwindle down to about three hooks. A lot more controllable with less hooks. I also became a pro at untangling sabikis. Always great talking with you. Stay warm. Hope the family is well. Take care :)

I add a bead above the tie on swivel to help prevent reeling the sibiki into the rod guides. A yellow one seems to draw more hookups.

Thanks a million for watching and sharing. Will most definitely give it a try. I used to own a bait shop and sell live bait... So, I'm used to beating up a sabiki until it gets down to 3 hooks... became real proficient at untangling them too. shrimp sounds good. when I was fishing for blue runners, I'd tip it with squid, so I could reuse the bait. Always a pleasure to hear from you and have your support for the channel over the years. Thanks for everything. Tight lines & take care ;)

@@SouthFloridaSaltwaterFishing well when using sabiki on handline water depth is normal we cut it into 2 piece so it will not hurt us and using so lightweight.. but i tried spoon when current was high & Bait was deep & its work awsome for me everytime.

Why don’t they hit the sibiki
@SouthFloridaSaltwaterFishing
@SouthFloridaSaltwaterFishing 2 жыл бұрын
Thanks a mood for watching and asking a great question. Sometimes bait fish don't hit sabiki rigs rabidly because the pod has already been fished. That seemed to me the case for the one morning where I was getting one and two but there are other times where you pull up full stringers. Regardless it's not a bad thing overfilling your live well can stress out your bait and kill them too so I take what I can get and I move on with life. Hope this helps. Thanks again for your supportive channel I truly and sincerely appreciate it. Tight lines & take care ;)
