I carry my net much like you show, with the hoop up. A while back I discovered an added benefit to this configuration. I had dropped a fly right at my feet while standing in knee deep water. I remember thinking how neat it would be if I had some kind of retriever, so I wouldn't have to reach for it with my already cold hands. But I did have one, right on the end of my net. All that was needed was to plunge the net down to the stream bed and the strong magnet easily made contact with my fly. I can't tell you how many times that's come in handy for me.

Wish I found this a couple weeks ago. I found that when i zip tie the magnet directly to the frame of the net (without the split ring) the magnet doesn't move around as much. Makes it easier to line up the two magnets when your ready to put the net back on your back. Just a suggestion. But great video

That's how I have my net rigged to my vest. Have tried all the other ways and this way is the winner. Easy off & on and stays out of the way when hiking through brush. Good video on how to do it.

Since you're right handed, why don't you attach the carabiner to the right hand side of your vest? This will prevent you from wrapping the lanyard around your waist when the net is needed.

What I do is I just bought a $10 magnet off Amazon which works amazing to my surprise and just get a piece of para cord that is about 4 feet long and tie that along with the magnets so you can just pull it right off and never lose it because if you are walking along the river and snag a tree you will lose your net without any string or para cord

I sell the lanyards. Go check out Everett Lures. You may or may not need paracord added if the length is correct with just lanyard.

Depends how big of a net you need. A lot of the new nets are carbon fiber and very light, but yes. Get as small as you can and it won’t be as cumbersome

In terms of handling I know you want wet hands, make the picture fast, and minimal contact. How much does that reduce harm to the fish? In other words, how many of those fish survive handling if you do it all right?
