“You have to start romanticizing your life. You have to start thinking of yourself as the main character. Because if you don’t, life will continue to pass you by. And all the little things that make it so beautiful, will continue to go unnoticed. So take a second, and look around, and realize that it’s a blessing for you to be here right now”
Hello friends! Today I'm sharing some of the ways that I romanticize my life, along with tips for how to be happier and appreciate the little things :) I often think of my life as a movie, and I have started to remind myself that I am the main character of my life. I've started to focus more on living in the moment, and appreciating the little things. There's no secret to romanticizing life. It's just about viewing the world with a bit of added magic and actively trying to be enchanted by your daily life :)
I hope you enjoy the video and cottagecore/light academia vibes! Sending you a warm virtual hug and some homemade chocolate chip cookies! 💗

you can romanticize your life without being aesthetically perfect. romanticize that ugly cup of coffee while studying, romanticize your trip to work or college, romanticize making dinner with whatever you have in the fridge, romanticize your time studying a subject you don't like by playing some music and drinking something you like. you can romanticize laying on your bed on your pajamas playing games! it's not about wanting to be her, is about loving who you are and what you do. once you are happy with what you do, you'll look as happy as her.

I had to hold it back but it got so close! I also have depression and am slowly recovering from all that I have lost these past 3 years. The thing that got me through the most was actually doing just this without even realizing it. Just trying to appreciate the good moments and see the beauty in all the little things around me. I am slowly treating myself better each day and it feels amazing. There will always be good and bad days but you can always find something small to make it just a little better. I hope you are able to do this as it really does make a difference in happiness. Good luck to you!

She might be mentally well or she might have mental health problems but the video makes it seem like it’s all perfect. Anyway this made me sad at first but I realised that her life has to be inperfect too. But we have to find beauty in all the inperfect stuff..I go to therapy and I’m slowly getting better, there are bad days and good days. At the beginning of the video she wakes up and talks about romanticising life, and then some moments later she’s eating a pristine breakfast. Where did the miraculous croissant come from? She later break the fourth wall and tells us about how she went to buy it from a very prestigious French chef in her city. What was it like to go to that place and buy the croissant? How much time did she take filming and editing this to make it look perfect? That’s not in the movie though. The bedsheets are Vintage Rose ,by Fadfay, you can find them on Amazon. Basically it’s all a show! Duolingo *is* a game, then play another videogame. Her life is not perfect. She is just like you and me. There are many beautiful material things on screen, but that doesn’t mean she’s always super happy with them. Seems she’s trying to find happiness just like everybody else and I think it’s really creative to do a video like this, but I would guess that she has a lot of bad days too! She doesn’t put them on KZfaq, of course. If she can find some happiness from doing this videos that’s great and something wonderful to share with the world, but don’t feel sad because it’s not really her real life...

I suffer from bouts of anhedonia, too. And no, videos like this just aren't really helpful in times like this. The creator does a good job and absolutely is not out to make people like you and me feel badly. In fact I think she does a lot of good for her viewers. You can always come back to this once you're feeling better. For now? Protect your mental health. And hang in there. Please. Can you tell me what does make you feel engaged or less-bad right now?

Papa's life revolves around efficiency and results, whereas mama is a hedonist at her core who spends her days indulging in pleasures and making our lives ethereal. I cherish my days in my parents household, I was growing up around fresh flowers for mama used to have orangery/greenhouse, sit-down candle-lit dinners, dinner parties, horse riding, reading novels with mama while sitting by the lake, and because of papa, I was blessed to do it in the highly coveted locations.

Six years ago, I could never imagine living my life like this. I tried to commit suicide several times that year. Accepting that I couldn’t die was hard, but slowly I started to try and find things worth living for. About 3-4 years ago I made myself start practicing self love. To say this was hard is an understatement. I used to disgust myself. Deeply hate myself. But somewhere along the way, I actually started to fall deeply in love with me. Madly in love. And as i fell in love with myself, I fell in love with life. And how beautiful a simple day in my life can be. Without realizing it, I started to live my life “romantically” or as the “main character.” Seeing the sunshine, the beautiful mountains out my window, playing with my cats is enough to live for. I skip and spin like a child at the store. I live in the moment exactly however I feel like. I am so happy to see others finding out this secret to life and sharing.

Tbh I don't think looking at yourself as your own main character is selfish in its own. Obviously we shouldn't be rude or inconsiderate to other people, but to me it's about finding the good or beauty of small mundane things in your life and enjoying them. I think this will also cause you to have a good effect on whoever you interact with because you'll be happier and more content, and peacefulness you have with yourself is what you will share to people in your life.

If you refuse to acknowledge and care for others, that's self-centered. But I think that refusing to acknowledge and care for yourself is also selfish. Taking that time for yourself is just choosing to let yourself be happy.

It's a great habit to start it from a young age, you have n-number of time to love yourself. If you do it when your a little older like me (I'm 21) You probably wouldn't have the time since, your life is fully packed up. As a child I didn't ejoy much, I regret it alot now. looking back I just wish I spent more quality time outside, instead of being stucked inside my room. now I realise what I missed out on, I would restart my life if I had a option, sadly I cannot.

I am a person who is a romantist and dreamer. So, thinking about harsh daily lives and problems or reality has been making me so hard and painful for the recent years. The problems like getting a job when umemployment rate is high, unsatisfying lifestyle, me not being a rich person, or being not famous as i want... things like these made me give up on life sometimes. The thought that my reality is so different from my expectations or dream was so unstandable. But this video made my romantic/dreamy side re-bloom. The important thing is my attitude toward life. If we try, we can make our boring and harsh life feel like a rainbow. (ofc, we have to try to really change our life as well.)

I watched this a year ago when it came out and that whole year afterwards was the best time I'd ever had in my life. Because i realized, romanticizing your life isn't about your life being perfect, it's about accepting the imperfections as they are, and finding them beautiful regardless. It's about finding joy in just being human, about finding the beauty in being sad or angry or nervous or embarrassed and embracing them because they're such a unique experience to you. It's about allowing yourself to follow your impulses no matter whether they will make others judge you because they make YOU happy. It's about dancing in the rain and breathing in the sunshine and laughing at yourself when you slip and fall. It's about listening to music, really listening, and listening to the birds outside and watching the squirrels outside and sitting in the shadowed corner of your room because you can hear yourself sing better there. Sometimes I forget this, and I have recently, but I came back here because I missed being in this mindset. I became angry at myself for having emotions, I found myself chasing happiness and pushing down everything else, but I found when I did that there was no happiness to be felt. But I'm ready to accept myself again, my new self. I'm not the same as I was last year and that's okay, I'm different now but I'm human, and that in and of itself is beautiful.

This was great to watch.😊 For me,once I graduated from H.S. and had a paycheck, I could sometimes buy myself things I wanted to surround myself with, SEE a certain pretty or special to me (like leaving a book open w/ my handkerchief on it, where I stopped reading). I really didn't think about what is now known as " mindful or intentional " thinking". A true romanticism has that inside them, part of their personality, make-up. Not saying there is anything wrong w/ learning it. Sometimes people think being a "hopeless romantic has to do w/ physical love, boyfriends, husband. Well I guess that is a small part of it, but it's more like picnics, reading under a tree, long walks in the woods, antiques, cuddling w/ your dog ( like you were doing. Making tea with loose tea in your little teapot if you have time for a leisurely bkfst. or doing it for your afternoon tea w/ some classical, or instrumental music playing. Candles, drying flowers by hanging them upside down in your kitchen or entrance way or??. One doesn't have to be smiling and happy every minute. That's not reality for our mind or bodies. I have suffered from depression for probably 27/35 yrs! I have many incurable illnesses that CAUSE depression. This past yr. Has been horrid. I surrounded my self with bright colors, journaled (which I do anyway). Other things also. Just threw that in because I noticed a comment before mine about depression. Had a counselor come to my house, would drink tea while we talked. Gave me a little bit of comfort. Love to read, read alot of poetry. Did as a child. Usually a romanticist , hopeless romantic just has these things inside them naturally. Again, you can bring these things into your life if you never have. I ALWAYS use special, pretty seasonal napkins and I don't have a family anymore. Just how I am. I live on the top floor of an Apt. Bldg. I never close my blinds at night because I want the sun to wake me up.No one can see me in my jammies or undressing way up here! I always lived in historic houses once married. It was glorious! Growing up in Massachusetts, my father always built our homes colonial architecture. He was on the Historic Home Preservation list. I miss New England so much! 😑. But I can pretend that's what's outside my bldg. I miss having a German Shepherd, that I can't pretend😑😑 Had them my entire life. Thank you for this enjoyable video😊 Where in New England do you live?

I didn't know there was a formal mindset behind this. Being an artist, I would do this naturally with everyday moments, or I get very excited about little things for extended time. But, when someone criticizes me for it, it instantly steals away that joy and puts me in a depressed mood. ;( Why destroy someone else's simple, innocent joy? And my "friends" have done this. It hurts, terribly. I struggle with severe clinical depression and moderate to severe anxiety as symptoms of PTSD. I don't think they have any idea how much an accomplishment it is for me to find and experience that joy. It feels like such a betrayal when someone you love and supposedly loves you criticizes that joy. How do you cope with such things?

I think this video just changed my life. It reminded me of the innocence that I had forgotten through time and awful experiences. Standing out in the rain was something I adored. Finding joy in miniscule things that most people wouldn't notice - like the sun glinting off of snow and making it shine like diamonds. I noticed that one day. And then I see this video and now I understand why that moment was so important, but at the time I couldn't understand why. Now I do. Thank you. For way too long, I have been shoved aside by the world (and myself) to being merely a background character in my own story. I'm pulling myself to the forefront. It's time to enjoy the little things again - though they're not so little at all. It's also wise advice from your video to enjoy even the mundane things - or rather, make the mundane not so ordinary, and I appreciate that a lot.

I slowly stopped feeling like a main character after I graduated HS. My mom always said I had a romantic view of the world, but anxiety is painting it grey. I didn't realize it when it was happening, but having to figure out what to do with my life made me focus on heavier things. After getting my law degree and realizing that it's not what I wanted I felt so lost! And so the past four years have been like a storm. I have my moments of joy, but they still are not a good amount. I know that for lots of people I have a good life, but it still hurts me that I don't feel satisfied with my job. And the things that I might enjoy working on are really difficult for me to achieve right now, I live in a country that's been going through lots of crisis, so I don't have enough money to move to the places where I can try and do the more creative things I like, and besides that, the culture is not valued here. I do try do live in the moment, but I have to think about the fire because right now I don't have enough to afford things going south. Everytime I forget about it something happens that make me stop and worry again. I wand to have a independent and stable life, so I can be able to help my parents if they need me. So far I still feel like a burden. So I decided for now to just try and have those thoughts on my mind and let them be my hobbies for the free times that I might have. But slowly I'm doing small things I enjoy. Like making scented candles and showers with only the candlelight. Growing flowers from seeds and watching them being beautiful. It's not a lot but it's something, right? I had to start from somewhere. And today I bought a really beautiful journal so I can go back to writing all my thoughts and feelings. They may not be pretty all the time, but my journal is pretty enough for me to feel like all is going well.

The location, the place, the clothes, the things around you are what helps in romanticizing one's own life. It's very hard when things around you are ugly and you need money to change all of it and you do work for that money in multiple different ways but it still hardly comes.

Try to make the best of it:) find joy in daisies that grow next to sidewalks and maybe take a walk through a nearby park if you can, drink your water out of that one fancy glass you own, wear your favourite hoodie as often as you can. You don’t have to spend a lot of money to romanticise your life:) Remember that you are loved by everything around you and have a great day 💗

You don't have to live in a quaint European town to romanticize life. You can romanticize living in a crowded city. The people, their chatter, their lives, the cars driving down the road, the smell of whatever delicious ethnic food you eat, the brightly colored buildings. You can put your hair up in a nice way. You have to appreciate the life you have and see the positive light in everything!

This is so beautiful. And such lovely advice! To be honest, I was getting a little jealous and thinking, that I wish I could have a morning as tranquil as yours, or that as a mom of 4 young children, I can’t spend time reading my favorite books all day, playing the piano, watching beautiful period drama films, taking naps, etc. *BUT THEN*- You gave that beautiful, inspiring, big sister moment outside in the snow of how we cannot control the events that happen to us, but that we *can* choose how we respond. We can train ourselves to see the beautiful things in the world. We can be grateful for the lovely little things. Tears sprang to me eyes as I realized that, although my mornings look *very* different from something idyllic, I *do* little things that help bring a romantic feeling into my life. For instance, my children may be hungry and persistent around my ankles for breakfast, but I put on my beautiful floral apron and am making scrumptious whole wheat toast with cinnamon or honey. I light a candle or use an essential oil diffuser to make the house smell nice in the morning. I put on some peaceful music to start off the mood, sometimes classical, guitar, or a soundtrack playlist. First thing in the morning, I wash my face, brush my teeth, get dressed in my favorite clothes, and do quick makeup, to “show up” to my life feeling ready for whatever happens. And I go on make-believe adventures with my kids every day: sometimes we are on the bunk bed going on a boat through the rivers of uncharted Africa and passing stuffed-animal crocodiles, and sometimes we are creating a farm out of blocks for the toy sheep and horses. And we always adore watching Studio Ghibli together. I realize that there are endless opportunities to insert a bit of romantic whimsy into your life, even if you have kids. Because children are the endless creators of imagination and fantastical moments, and they always live in the present. 💛 Thank you for the lovely video! It is such a good reminder to see the absolute beauty, like to just pause and look out the window when you hear a bird chirping, and to relish such a freeing, happy sound and search for the little creature, instead of just tuning it out. It can make your life magical!

Not everybody is in the time to be romanticizing YET. Sometimes you still gotta heal and learn to even start doing the minimal, and thats ok! I was the happiest and loud person I knew. After a trauma 4 years ago, my life simply turned grey. I had to strugle a lot to be in the place and mind I am now, and I'm not even near like this, in the video, but I soon will be. I believe in that. I survived so much, it deserves to be romanticized from now one. I'll get there. You will get there. We deserve this.

I don’t know you but glad you’re making progress ! 💖I think being like she is in this video, is beautiful, but it can’t be like that all the time- it’s not realistic because we will have ups and downs, distractions, a full range of emotions, moods & perspectives, and that’s ok. I think maybe trying to have a day /afternoon/moment like this once a while or just appreciating when you do have those moments is do-able. gratitude lists really help too! have you listened to Brene Brown? This was so lovely to watch. I'm right in the midde of learning to romanticize life as a mother of four. It's harder when you've got four little ones needing you and creating chaos, but I've realized even now it's possible. I can simplify our lives which opens us all up to value the little things more. I can learn to enjoy their play/chaos time as creativity and imagination instead of just seeing the mess. And, as I've always tried to do, I can romanticize myself a little in getting dressed and feeling good about ME. Finding your channel was perfectly timed, and this video was perfectly timed too as I plan to minimize what we own and create a more beautiful home in which I can teach my children to romanticize their lives by teaching myself to romanticize motherhood.
