@@hindachris8768 Manon can't approach Chun out of bMP range. I play both chars. I think Chun wins. Whiff punishes with bMP and stLK buffered into legs really shuts her down. Mashing jab after you block any of her buttons resets neutral then she has to get in again.

For some reason I have a low percentage win rate against Marisa and Manon as well, and I just picked up Manon recently and traded games with my friends Chun Li 10-8. I knew about all her specials being unsafe. But Manons just beat me with fundamentals.

Not really, as far as I've tested even with DR they're just in 5hk range. Though I might have to go look again. The thing is Manons DR is actually the shortest and slowest in the game, so she might get a meaty, but afterwards she'll be too far away to do anything.

@@AceTriggerz well maybe. But there's a difference between having to see them doing something and DI'ing. And seeming them do something and then figuring out if it's high or low. It removes a decision point.

I don't know, but if she commits to them on block, you might as well punish instead. If you can interupt it in block, you're hoping she timed it slowly enough, to let you get the hit. If the frame gap is only 3 frames, then you'll let her get the hit.

I assume you mean drive rushing and yes. She can do that after a grab. She can't fake the drive rush tho, so if you see green, wakeup super might be worth it

@@gxmcdg it depends on the knockdown. I just checked. She can only block in time after command grab. But hitgrab, forward throw and back throw can't be baited if she DRs

I guess thats how its gonna be for most of the cast, lots of similar moves in the game, visually similar, but whose have different gaps or recoveries... Im a bit frustrated when I cant play intuitively, visually speaking. I miss that from sf2 and 4. Or maybe Im just getting older and slower haha

I'd love to dive into them. But they're so universally solid. The biggest thing there is some special moves like jinrai kick and donkey kick. The combination of DP and fireball is just solid. But I do have some thoughts bubbling

I totally get that. Those two characters are very good. And they are very "honest" like there's not a lot of knowledge checks, they just have good buttons and can beat you in neutral

Short answer: Your timing is off and you need to practice it. I had to for like 4 hours to get it consistently. If you hit either of the 2 vacuum target combos, and go for heavy command grab. They should not be able to jab out. Medium tc is +2 Heavy tc is +3 Heavy command grab starts up in 5 frames. That means they only have 2 or 3 frames to act in. The fastest jab is 4 frames. So your timing is off. Go into training mode, tell the bot to use a 4 frame button as its damage reversal and hit your target combo and immediately use your heavy command grab. If you activate the frame meter, it should show you if you're doing it too late, by there being a gap between recovering from the TC and hitting grab.

You're allowed to hold up on wake-up :) You know your issue, then it's easy to fix!

I think Gief struggles with Manon as he has to approach and her normals are very strong. Though going for crossup jump ins work pretty well as Manon struggles to AA that. Because I think once you get in you have a pretty big advantage due to the + on block normals.

@@Ghimel8 I was already playing modern and still got wrecked lol. Modern gief actually loses some of his long range pokes which would be useful against Manon.

Drive reversal is an interesting option, but it loses to the same thing DPs lose to. Blocking. But... not everyone has a DP so it's a good replacement

@@TheSilentMan2320 so rondpoint is 236K the anti air. I'm assuming you're talking about 214HK. Which yes is technically unsafe, but due to it being spaced is safe. The ex version is actually truly safe even point blank! The secret sauce is the it loses to DI. If they keep using 214HK to meaty you, then just wake-up DI. It's even pretty reactable. Remember in the future if you want advice to specify what precisely you're having an issue with, because then we can help you way easier.

@TheSilentMan2320 btw regarding spacing. Jamie's sweep 2HK is also unsafe, but if spaced properly is very hard to punish. Some characters like Honda can't punish it AT ALL. At its max range, that way you can use this concept against your opponents!

Then it's either the hitgrab, or you're tapping jump instead of actually holding it. If you hold jump, you don't have to time it, but if you tap jump you do.

Not sure when I say stuff specfically is unsafe. But 5HP is super cancellable, FAT says so, and there's literally a combo trial in the game that's just 5HP into super.

Ironic to say don’t spread misinfo but then say 5HP isn’t super cancellable when it 100% is.

BUT in the demonstration you are showing it in, you are recovering in time and then using a super and not canceling into super. The cancel window for Stand HP is so short at the beginning that there is no way you are doing that on reaction.

@@0NIONBUBS I may have botched the demonstration ye. But the plan isn't to do it on reaction. It is to buffer the super, and then press in case of DI. It's possible, but I also recommend not doing that and just meatying with 5mp instead.
