100% the worst part is motivation. Very cold, foggy weather just makes you want to stay inside with a warm cup of coffee. But once you conquer that first step it feels quite nice and personally the cold makes me have stamina for days cause I don't get tired.

Last year I bought really good cold weather gear and that helped me a lot. I ran in -10 Fahrenheit multiple times.

Same! Fighting the elements is extra motivation for me. Numb toes, painful hands: they just confirm I did something tough.

Where I live, the weather is expected to get down to single digit highs and below zero lows for several days at least. I dress warm and use this time of compact snow on the roads to just get in the time. No speed, just comfortable in the conditions. As someone who often runs "easy" runs too fast, this weather makes me slow down. It is actually a blessing for me.

Change your relationship with the treadmill - of course it’s not as nice as being out in nature but when it’s raining sideways it’s a valuable training tool and will help you be ready for those spring events. If you can’t face running for an hour on it, then use it for your intense sessions, crank up the speed or the incline, do a few intervals, get the heart rate up and then you’re done already!

My #1 tip is to buy some bad ass winter running gear so it motivates you to get outside and use it (show it off).

For me the problem is the ice. I recently started running in the park (this summer, live in a big, busy city so no chance of hiking or staff like that sadly) and I am basically addicted to it, it makes me happy. I have motivation galore but I really don't like the ice. So far it's been ok, just going below 0 degrees C, we'll see how it goes. I hope I won't have to temporarily suspend my running so I don';t lose the progress until spring. Happy running everyone!

you can try out microspikes, they go on the bottom of your shoes to give you traction against the ice. That's what I wear on the icy trails.

For me that's hibernation time. I live in NE Florida and sometimes it gets to be 35 or below. So, I wait until it gets around 60 degrees.

Running helps my depression and it’s so icy right now so I’m really struggling, I had to turn around 2 mins in this morning and it made my mental state terrible. Don’t know what to do for the next 5 months

I recently moved and we're i live now it's around -10°c (around 14°F I think), and it's mountains all around my house. For the last month I've completely stopped focussing on speed, because there is sooo much hills, and snow and ice. But I'm enjoying it nonetheless

the thing that gets me grumpy running outside in winter is when ive sweat from warm ups inside and i go outside and i can just feel the gross sweat under my clothes. and its made even worse when there is a strong cold breeze. every time it hits you feel that cold sweat on your skin.

Motivation the worst for me because maybe I did make to much peace with the belt. When You first started here I saw you on snowshoes. I have bought a pair of those and want to start running outside with them. Any videos coming up with you doing that? That would be my motivation. Another piece of gear to use.

@@Shad0wmoses honestly mate I genuinely don't know, it might help that I'm already pumped on the go doing exercise before hand, i may get burns if I went out before doing all that but because I'm already dripping with sweat by the time I go out it's very therapeutic, come in put the shower on luke warm, obviously too hot you feel the water singe you but very relaxing 🤣... I'm very good with the cold tbh, genuinely don't enjoy being warm/hot, might be a sensory thing for my autism

I live in Salt Lake, Utah. It is really freaking cold and snowy. In addition, I have a condition where even mildly cold weather (like 65 and below) makes me lose circulation in my fingers and toes to the point where they are in pain. I describe it as feeling like someone is stabbing under my toe and finger nails with a million little needles. I get frost nip on my toes almost every winter and they swell and turn purple (1/10 would not recommend) Very painful. My lungs also don’t do well in the cold and they sometimes burn for days after running in cold air accompanied by a horrid cough. When running in the winter, I’ve found that: sticking toe warmers in my shoes fixes the toe issues, good, silver lined mittens( not gloves) fixes my hands, and wearing a buff over my face fixes the lung issues. Also, base layers are your friend. And remember, Cotton is Crap. Not good for winter or summer. Avoid at all costs.

For your hands and feet feeling that cold it could be reynaud syndrome. My doctor told me that because my right hand gets cold and sometimes the fingers tips are white.
